Holy shit, my garbage/recycling fees are insane. Just got the bill for next quarter. $258 What do you pay ?

My parents and I are next door neighbors. Service is only $35 per quarter though.

Start a compost heap for all kitchen and household organic waste including all paper, tissues, cardboard, cooked and garden waste. It all turns into lovely black soil.

Refuse collection sell the recycled aluminium, steel, glass, plastic. In the UK councils are contracted to guaranty recycling centres a minimum amount of combustible waste for their "carbon neutral" power generation plants.

For a normal household there should be very little that needs to go into (expensive) land fill. Automatic sorting machines are able to separate most waste into the above types. Recyclers even sell their composted material to gardeners.

Your bill is yet more tax, CO2, green scam bullshit. There is no way refuse costs that amount. As the saying goes in the UK... "Where there's muck, there's brass!" l

Here in East Texas I pay $300 per year or $25 per month.

Zilch--I take mine to work and use the dumpster there.

$60 per quarter here in rural central Michigan.

Our garbage/recycling just went up to 32 a month. But that is for twice a week pick up and recycling.

Twice a week is nice - and at $384 a year that isn't bad at all.

I pay $125 every 3 months ($41.66 per month) for-

-weekly 32 gallon garbage can (125lb weight limit per pickup)
-weekly 96 gallon recycle bin (250lb weight limit per pickup)
-weekly 96 gallon yard waste bin (250lb weight limit per pickup).

I actually make money. Haul it to dump myself every couple of months and recycle cans. I pay by the ton, but usually get money back. Once you subtract fuel to get it there probably break even.

I rather do that than haul a giant can uphill 300 feet to the pickup spot.
