Why do people pay to live in more expensive nanny/police state cites?

I honestly dont understand why people would pay to be harrassed by the cities they live in. They dont go out to eat/drink or enjoy themselves at night for fear of being assaulted, kidnapped, robbed (for having a few drinks). It destroys the businesses doing business in those cities because people dont spend money in them. To harrassing women with cancer for their yards.

I honestly dont understand why anyone would chose to live in cities that authoritarian. You have very little freedom.

Do people just accept being over policed every single day?

Are they just okay with other random people just telling them what they are doing is good/bad?

I dont get and im extremely tired of the police state/nanny cities, being harrassed constantly, having very little no freedoms, etc. etc.
