.357 Magnum is too big for me. You have to be able to hit what you are aiming at and I just can't with a .357. I am much better with a .38 +P. My favorite is a Smith & Wesson model 67 with 4" barrel. And before you all chime in and call me "pussy", I already know it.  You can shoot the .38 caliber round in the .357.. Not sure if it makes any difference. I have tried. My hands are not big enough for any .357 that I have tried. .38 is a revolver round .380 is a semi round I love .357 but it's more a Russian Roulette thing For self defense a .380 will serve much better
