My neighbor asked me if his grandparents can move into my house temporarily | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1325164 Neighbors have a smaller house but one of their kids goes off to college in September so they will have an extra bedroom ready at that point. But their grandparents need a place to stay between now and September. What should I do? Should I ask for rent money if I agree to this? One week on your couch and a mail forward request to usps and someone has officially established residency at your home. You will then need to go through a lengthy, uncomfortable process to get them evicted. I just went through this with a “friend” who turned out to be a scheming enemy. Had to pay her bucks $$$, illegally move her stuff into storage, start an eviction process and change the locks to get her out all with the help of an intimidating family member. She’s finally stopped threatening to sue for the “back injuries” she sustained during the move. Just say no. |

This is why air bnbs no longer allow more than a month stays. |

I honestly need a new place to stay and hope you will consider me for the room you have available. I think paying rent is important and a 1 week lease is fine. $100 a week seems fair and I only need the room for the foreseeable future |

You owe nobody anything. You are allowed to say no with no reason at all. Goodbye, halcyon days... Only Me Strawberry Girl User ID: 81130680 United States 07/07/2022 11:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was a single mother with no child support. At one point, I had to live in a one bedroom apartment. I gave my son the bedroom and I slept on the damn couch. If this guy really needs to move in his grandparents, they can just turn the living room into a bedroom until September. The fact that this neighbor of yours is selfish enough to impose on you rather than himself for his own family is a huge red flag. DO NOT ALLOW THIS, OP. This is a very bad idea. Only Me Strawberry Girl User ID: 81130680 United States 07/07/2022 11:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not to mention, if one of them falls they might try to sue you. Every time I let someone live with me it was a disaster. I would not do it again. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75654590 Same here. I let my sister stay for a while, and she made huge messes that she never cleaned up and I was the one making lunches for my niece to take to school because otherwise, she would have eaten crap. She paid no money to help out and did the dishes maybe one time in the 2 years she stayed there, and that's after I threw a fit because I had two brain surgeries and a staph infection from them and had home health every day, so we had to keep the place extra clean because they would go through the house to make sure I was living in a safe place (really weird). I paid for all of their food, the expense of extra utilities, clothes and school supplies for her daughter, and random other expenses. Then when I finally had enough and made her leave, she went around to all of our mutual friends and told major lies about me and my bf, saying that I never stuck up for her when my bf complained about her not helping out around the house. One time, he lost his patience and raised his voice at her (only ONCE!) and she told people she thought he was going to hit her! Fuck sake, sis! I don't know how she turned out that way when we were raised by the same parents, but that's what happened anyway. Goodbye, halcyon days... If they are injured while living in your house you’re screwed. It’s not worth it. |
