fyi I brought my hubby home this afternoon from the heart specializing hospital, not the VA hospital--they had sent him there...

Honestly guys. Can any of you see the path this is all taking us down? I'm getting lost in the trees again. Too many detours that make no sense. I'm sure of the end result, just not the winding way it's taking us.

On the dark side:

It looks like I'll have to make a video for my daughter on how to make my gramma's honey Christmas cookies after all. They'll only be here for 2 days again. Not enough time. Part of me wants to just say, "screw it". She was never interested before. Just like she wants to learn how to sew, crochet and several things I learned from gramma and mom. She hated them all growing up.

Sorry, I'm a little bummed tonight. Just found out they're not staying as long as we thought and now, the weather report might just cancel out the whole thing. I was afraid of that. It's why we rarely came up here for the holidays. We always had ice storms pushing us back home. I'm hoping the winter weather will hold off. The forecast could be wrong, it's far enough out to be off.

I just wanted this one last holiday with at least some of my kids.

I’m sorry to hear you may not be getting the holiday you wanted.
Focus on making the couple of days as much of the holiday as possible. The “holiday” is only the dates on the calendar. The true holiday is the time you spend together.

My recommendation - make the video. Have fun making it as a gift to her - include any stories you can think of..etc. She will always have it and can watch it later in life, not just to make cookies.

You know what? I think maybe I'll make the video and maybe some others as well, if the first one turns out ok. Then, all the kids will have them as well. Don't know how well they'll turn out. We haven't really done full blown videos since the days of the heavy cameras! LOL

I'm getting over the cruddy allergy junk. They've got almost all of the corn and beans off since I got sick and stayed home. Insta-cure!

Sorry about last night. I'm still over tired and I got a little weepy when I got daughter's text. I have to stop posting when I get that way. LOL I still haven't heard from youngest son. He just got a new job and wasn't sure if he could come or not. Gotta text him later today. He'll come if he can. If I'm going to make a video, I'll need his help. He's my tech guru kid!

I don’t think you have to worry about the videos being professional. Just be yourself - that’s what they will want and to keep to remember.

I wish I had videos like these from my parents. I think it’s a great idea. And they may not be watched immediately - but they’ll always have the opportunity.

Also, write those recipes down! So many of my grandmother’s recipes are gone because she never thought them important enough to write down.
