I was thinking man-made at the time. It still, after all these years, amazes me what horrendous things one person does to another. Silly me, I always hope we'll outgrow it, but we never do.

Just before falling asleep last night it I thought it oddly synchronous that we would have a “cannibal”CME with what could be a raging novel virus or bacterium.

Then I found this.
So perhaps the virus/bacterium will be “zapped”
Or…given a “boost”

Revealing the relationship between solar activity and COVID-19 and forecasting of possible future viruses using multi-step autoregression (MSAR)

Regarding the results of this study, we found that sunspots are the main cause of virus generation in the world. This research reveals that the biological and astrophysical mechanisms are related to the generation of world pandemics such as COVID-19. This study indicates that the emergence of pandemics like COVID-19 outbreaks would be linked with the extremum of the sunspot cycle.

Yes it is.
After reading (skimming) it, I recall other similar discussions in the past.

There is other research about how the increased solar radiation can (I assume, in theory) mutate viruses and re-emerge.

That particular document seems to make the claim that Covid appeared because of solar activity. However, I’m still on the side of man made tinkering.

But, now that it’s in circulation, it, as well as others, could be influenced by the solar cycle, sunspots, CMEs.

Given we are receiving a triple dose from our sun, I wonder if perhaps (in true old school GLP style) we could see whatever is going on with “white lung” truly explode, further mutate..etc and/or have a “bum rush” of multiple viruses and bacteria.

Hmm..
So the “Mysterious Dog Illness” is now thought to be a bacterium.

“White Lung” is thought to be a bacterium and health leaders assure us it’s nothing they can’t handle because it’s not “novel”.

Yet, China is being overwhelmed.
Might be time to start looking for natural home remedies for pneumonia. Because even if known antibiotics work. I bet their capacity will be significantly reduced very quickly.

If it’s not “novel”, then we might be worse off than an actual new Covid variant.

NYC apparently came a lot closer to a total power grid failure last Christmas than anyone knew, and it could have lasted for months:

[link to www.wsj.com (secure)]

Guys, we talk about CMEs, EMPs, and cyberattacks in relation to the power grid, but the truth is it's a lot more fragile than that. An extended grid-down scenario is something that every single one of us should be prepared for. If you can afford a generator of any kind, I highly suggest it. If you have the funds, I would go with a dual-fuel gasoline/propane 7,500 watt generator minimum. You do get a little power loss with propane over gasoline, but propane is much easier and safer to store.

Understand how many amps of output that generator can provide and how many amps your appliances and lights pull. You might need to unplug some devices to run others so you don't exceed the generator's output.

You need, at bare minimum:
Heat, refrigeration, basic lighting and device charging, and cooking.

this is bad. real bad.

has been a concern with covid jumping to mammals and mutating or merging.

all species carry helper bacteria or other germs. this includes humans. but organisms that work with us to break down food, etc that actually help us sustain life. if these turn against us, we are doomed. us being the species they initially turn against. the fear is these organisms have specific relationships with their hosts and can n invasive to a different species.

that all by itself without adding merge or covid or mutating. once it jumps to another species and continues to man, it will b a huge wildfire.

i'll read the rest of the article, that was just bout 3 lines of it.

basically what is a common germ to dogs is now turning on them. what would b a common helper germ to any species may b seen as infection in another. cows aren't ppl and their helpers won't b tolerated by a human's immune system.

We haven't seen anything so far, but Mr. TB has started getting txts about our older son being in jail again. He's not. Years ago, our church's youth group went to Mexico on a mission trip. The pastor left his LOCKED truck in a supposed, LOCKED AND SECURE, fenced and guarded parking area. All the kids docs were stolen from the truck. Idk about the rest of the kids, but son has had issues off and on since then.

We were a little surprised because it's been quiet for a very long time.

Radiation helps fungus, bacteria and viruses mutate at a faster rate. Not only is there sun radiation recently but Fukushima is still pouring out radiation 24x7 since March 2011. And they started dumping the contaminated water into the ocean in Aug of this year.

Bombarding the earth with all that radiation for the last 12+ years I'm sure hasn't helped the situation.

Recommended phone apps for grid-down scenarios.

I have been collecting and testing various Android phone apps that can help with survival even with zero internet connectivity. I'm assuming there are similar iOS apps out there but I have not tested any. I may use the one iPad I have to experiment with those next year.

Some of these apps will request network permissions. This is usually for updating or ad purposes. You can choose to allow this permission or not but the app will still function.

This list is by no means comprehensive, and I welcome any other suggestions anyone might have. You will also notice there are some redundant apps listed. This is for two reasons - First, some apps might not be available for certain phones. Second, redundancy in the field is a requirement for survival. "Two is one. One is none." Having two similar apps is recommended in case one fails for some reason.

I recommend testing the functionality of these apps on an annual basis (I do it at the end of every year, as well look for new apps). The navigation apps that allow downloading of maps to internal storage for offline use - make sure you perform that download *prior* to the SHTF scenario. I know that sounds obvious, but it's a critical step for those apps to function offline.

Invariably, someone always says, "Yeah, but your phone will be fried if there's an EMP." This is largely inaccurate. If your phone is connected to a wall charger at the moment of the EMP, then yes, that phone is probably dead. However, if you are out and about during your normal day, your phone will *probably* survive an EMP. I won't go into the science of it, but trust me, the odds are pretty good it will survive a HEMP. If you're close enough to an airburst or groundburst detonation for the EMP to fry the phone, well... you're dead anyway. That being said, I have an older smartphone that I keep loaded with apps like this sitting in a fireproof safe in our basement as a backup in case I lose my primary phone for any reason. Again, "Two is one. One is none."

In alphabetical order:

1: Army Survival Handbook - This is a digital version of the US Army's FM 21-76 Survival Manual. A *lot* of useful information on survival techniques in various environments.

2: BackCountry Navigator Pro - This app allows the download of topographical maps of any area for offline access and navigation by the phone's built-in GPS system (assuming GPS satellites are still working). Still very useful even without GPS functionality. They have a free version that you can try, but I recommend the Pro purchase.

3: Basic Compass App (there are several of them out there; just make sure network access is not required for it to work and it only uses the phone's built-in GPS sensors).

4: EmRadDose - Medical treatment of radiation exposure victims depending on method of exposure.

5: First Aid App (multiple versions out there, but I use the one provided by the American Red Cross).

6: Flashlight App (again, there are several available. Find one that has some good options, including an automatic SOS blinking pattern, different color possibilities, different levels of brightness, etc.)

7: Google Maps - Allows downloading area maps for offline access.

8: Google Translate - Allows downloading of multiple languages to store internally for offline translation capabilities.

9: Kiwix - App that allows downloading of various wikis for offline access, including Wikipedia. Very handy for referencing information outside your knowledge base.

10: LunaSolCal - Sunrise/Sunset times for your location.

11: Mobile REMM - Information on radiation exposure, triage, treatment, decontamination, etc.

12: Off-Grid GPS - Allows you to set waypoints that you can later select and the app will tell you distance, direction of travel, and elevation difference between the waypoints and your current location.

13: SHTF Tools - A simple app with compass and flashlight tools. Redundant to some of the others I've listed.

14: SkyMap - Stellar navigation.

15: SurvivalGuide - This is another digital version of the US Army's FM 21-76 Survival Manual.

16: Survival Manual - Digital version of US Army FM 3-05.70 which is the replacement for the FM 21-76.

17: Trail Sense - Another offline GPS navigation app specifically designed for remote areas with no cellular service.

18: Ultimate Close Combat Manual - Military-style hand-to-hand fighting and self-defense techniques.

19: US Topo Maps - Offline mapping/navigation app that allows internal storage of map data.

Phone Charging: Most people who are going to have these types of apps on their phones are probably going to already have alternate means of electricity which will allow them to keep their phone charged, but if not, they make some very inexpensive charging units that rely on solar power, hand-cranking power, or both, to allow people to charge small devices. You absolutely need a couple of alternate methods of charging your phone in a grid-down scenario, but here are some tips to conserve battery power:

1: Turn off 5G/4G/LTE, wi-fi, and bluetooth. In a SHTF scenario, you're likely not connecting to the internet anyway. Keep GPS turned off unless you're actively using it.

2: Uninstall or disable any internet-reliant apps such as browsers, e-mail, texting, or any app that constantly runs in the background that you don't absolutely need.

3: Dim your phone's brightness to at least 50%.

4: Turn off your phone when not in use.

Please let me know if you have anything to add to this list and I will edit it as needed.
