1976, UK suffered the longest drought since records began. We were young, enjoyed every day of the endless summer.
I was out all day, aalll day, every day in high summer and I don't remember a single bit of sunburn.
A few weeks of summer here and the pain from the sun, even through the car window is harsh.
Whoever mentioned the heat building into the afternoon, way past 3pm is right, hottest here around 4-5 pm so some kind of heat dome builds up that never did before.
We have a heatwave warning from Sunday onwards here, record temperatures to be broken... lasting into next week.
I am not a global warming believer .. but something is definitely happening.
I keep my veg garden watered well and each year it becomes easier to grow plenty of corn, squash and peppers. If you know Britain, we usually grow cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes and cooler weather crops with warmer weather one's on the side. My garden could be described as US Deep South one at this time.
