looks like we are back to the 1980's any advise ??
I was 11 years old being raised by a single mom with a father that decided to bail on us and remember living in the projects surviving on cheese sandwiches thanks to the big block of government cheese. Also remember waiting in line at the youth wreck center for daily lunch handouts that keep me from hunger most of the day.

I'm not a greedy individual but because of my past i worked very hard and now some what successful as i promised myself i would never return to poverty relying on our government.

I now own many properties and rentals.
You can do all the research you want on the net but the real truth comes from the ones that where actually there.

Should i continue to rent? or should i sell.
Should i use up some of my liquid capital NOW to purchase items i may need in the future?

And so on and so on.

Any information some of you remember while living in the 1980s such as what to do and not to do would be appreciated.

I was a dumbass at the time. Spoiled too. Wasn't paying much attention to what was going on outside my own household. Parents got divorced 1981. All wrapped up in that drama.

Early80s style, but only with regards to the current financial woes, government mismanagement of the economy and greedy bankers. The whole positive outlook, fun times and general optimism and happiness have disappeared to a large degree, they are on an individual basis now, life is what you make it and all that.

A lot of us grew up in those times with it a lot, but enough and that taught valuable lessons.

What I remember about those times is that if you were liquid, you could capitalize. Real estate, business inventories for cents on the dollar , toys like boats, motorcycles and (Muscle) cars having little resale value, etc. Also some stocks were very cheap.

Maybe it's worth looking into at increasing your liquidity to capitalize. One person's opinion . Best of luck.

I think that we are in a energy crunch.
This winter is going to be hell for many family's heating their homes with Oil.

Back in the 80s i know oil was hard to get so many builders went to electrical heat.. Today the electric company is more or less like the mob.
I believe natural gas is the way to go.

I'm thinking the same thing.
I was going to take advantage of the so called low interest rates today and pull A few loans and pay the interest JUST in case the rates go back like the 80s at 24%.

I'm also looking at changing a few properties to natural gas.

I don't know how I survived all those years without a smartphone and internet access.

I'm so old I remember withdrawing money from early ATMs and people being amazed and asking me questions about it.

Don't trust the stock market or anything connected to it.

Idk about real estate. It seems like it was okay in the 80s, but really, idk how you think what is going on now is like the 80s.

I was kinda young, but I don't get the similarity.

I guess the Threat of Nuclear War thing? I am gen x. They scared the crap out of us from day one. We didn't do the "duck and cover" routine because, no point, you'd be a crispy critter before you even could. (Bombs change through the decades.)

If that's it, live your life... There's nothing you can really do.
