The Russian military may not be very good, but it can walk over any current European military, since Europe is almost entirely disarmed (small forces, tiny ammunition store piles, a paucity of missiles for their fighter jets, etc etc).

And if the Russians ever are in danger of losing they have plenty of nukes as Plan B.

Don't underestimate them.
