Plenty of weaponized mosquitos though.
Normal mosquito leaves a little bump, I have those.
These latest ones leave a huge welt. I have those too.
And they itch a heck of a lot more.
I hate this new world being shoved on us by the brain dead.

Ontario Canada calls the zero number if monarch butterfly numbers an extinction level event

Kind of weird glp has no thread

Personally i blame 5g for this problem not the lack of milk weed as the news is suggesting

I just read about it this morning.
It's not 5G.
It's much more pedestrian than that.

It's massive contamination of the biosphere with pesticides and burning chemical pollution that don't break down.

Ever.

First they came for the butterflies, and I did nothing because I was not a butterfly...

There is a direct correlation between the neuro-affecting pesticides like fipronil and the bee decline. It is hardly crazy to think it affects other insects as well. It was introduced around this timeframe.

I live just east of Seattle. We NEVER get monarch butterflies, or at least I haven't seen any in the 22+ years of living here.

Now, I've seen 4 this year. That is kind of strange

Re: Monarch Butterflies get extinction level call out and no thread
I’m so confused.

I have seen two black and one yellow that I assumed were Monarch Butterflies.

They have the same markings but aren’t orange.

I haven’t seen any orange ones here in NC.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77610953

Oh no.

The black looking ones are called “red spotted purple admiral”.

The yellow ones are called “Eastern tiger swallowtail”.

So nope, haven’t seen one Monarch this entire year in central NC.

And very few of the ones I have named.

if you live long enough you will go through a couple of these "lean" cycles ... then there will be "more than ever" - then the next time you read about them they are "on the verge of extinction" ... again

learn to trust nature, if they didn't serve a purpose they wouldn't exist

Lots of native wildflowers are going extinct, part of the reason. Plant Butterfly Milkweed Asclepias that are native in your area.
Plant A LOT of them, seeds or plants. Start seeds soon as they need to be stratified, so that they are ready for spring transplanting. I do a patch every year and love it.

Re: Monarch Butterflies get extinction level call out and no thread
We have them in our garden still.

They like certain flowers. I have sweet williams there, and shasta daisies, also old fashioned bell flowers.

But they like sweet.

Just like the pollinating bees love dandelions, and they love catnip. Plant them near your cucumbers and melons, and pumpkins squash in pots.
 Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn

Are you suggesting to plant cucurbits with milkweed?
I tried that this year with a few melons in my milkweed patch, but the melons are doing much better in a different area.
I always plant some nasturtiums with my cukes and melons.

I’m super into companion planting and biointensive planting.
 Quoting: Big D 83880411

No, our cucumber patch, not sure if its in the same place as last year. But we used nasturtium in pots, we had dandelions and we had catnip. They were in abundance in the areas with dandelions and catnip. And they don't like squash and cucumbers like other plants, but it works well. Backyard and side yard, with the bees.

The Monarch butterfies were in the front yard, with my flowers.

The hummingbirds like the flowers in the front, AND especially like the flowers in the back, we have trumpet vine, different bells, and hollyhock.

I see them here in Southwest Florida every morning that I'm outside working in my yard. Milkweed grows all over the area I live, so they are a very common sight. I also have quite a few plants that are butterfly attractors also. We actually had a frost here over the winter so they were gone for a couple of months but almost back to normal numbers.

I have been hand raising monarchs the last two years and this is about the time I start seeing them. There is plenty of milkweed near my house. It's just been so hot this year.
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone...ain't no borderline psychotic emotional outbursts either.

Some days you just have to create your own sunshine.

We have hummingbird’s here in Utah.
They come back every year.
They let me know when they have arrived.
=)
We are good on hummingbird’s still.

I haven’t seen any normal bee’s in awhile.
Years now.

I sure hope the Monarch butterfly makes it.
I love that creature.

Take care of each other.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83712489

Please remember...
Monarch butterflies hatch and move north to hatch the next batch and so on.
The last ones to hatch in the north, mostly Canada, they carry all the genetic material for future generations, all the way to Mexico.
