It feels to me like my unit is the 1956 model, and that one with all them cool features in the modern one. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59143213 We continue to progress backwards over the decades... If they built this one today with auto ice maker and auto defrost with the same workmanship it would 10K + |

Quoting: Mithradates [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Grew up with the later iteration of this model, maybe a 1960. Crisper in the door was genius. Re: Edsel, drum brakes suck. |

The appliance guy used the vacuum in the compressor to suck in the new refrigerant. Never used a vacuum pump to remove the compressables? I told him on the spot this was not acceptable. HE turned Nasty. I threw him out and told him to send someone who can do the job properly. With a new compressor and a new control board. Linear compressor with a 10 yr warranty. The guy was an idiot. Education is a decision, Not something that can be drilled into a brain. UHFTX Ultra High Frequency Transmission. Mega WATTS of RF Energy. A VETERAN of the Cold WAR. Its an old green Whestinghouse covered in bumper stickers to hide the rust and it needs de-iced twice a year, but its 2022 and it still works fine. I paid 75 bucks for it in 1996. |

I would guess they bought it in the late 40s early 50s. That fridge was still working in 2011 when it was removed because of fears about the ammonia in the system should it spring a leak. Thing was like a vault, had great big chrome handle a foot long that latched closed. The fridge itself never made a sound. |

Your electric bill would drop a lot with a new fridge. |
