And then there's additional taxes on top of that. Lotteries overall are basically charity funding that goes to the states or government. That's why it exists, to raise money from people who pay for tickets. You don't get what's advertised. like pt barnum said, there is a sucker born every minute. Guess the lotto winner forgot to get the memo.
