I randomly mail things my mom needs so she doesn't have to ask, because she won't. That makes it hard because I never know exactly what she needs. There are times I go without just to make sure she's ok. We should take care of our parents. If I had my way, it would be like in other cultures where the whole family lives together and share responsibility and resources.

So if you have a son who wants to help you, let him. Really. It's okay.
