I owned two different cars that had the engines “run away” meaning all of a sudden they on their own revved up to high speed and you could not stop them by backing off the pedal, braking, or emergency braking. One stopped on its own finally and went up in flames, the other I yanked into park and still the engine raced until a mechanic disengaged something now I don’t remember what. Did anyone consider the car may have been at fault?
