I never recommend it, but in theory will it make it. Yes, it should...

There's not enough power to engage the electromagnet clutch on the compressor for the AC...

Take the battery out, charge it at AutoZone for free. Takes 20 minutes.

Run the vehicle like it's on life support only. No heater air conditioning radio.

The other option? If you have a friend or family with the same side post terminal battery? Exchange batteries with them to make your trip.

You might want to take out the fuse for your brake lights to give yourself bonus braking time.

How do you know it's the alternator have you tested the volts at the battery when it is running and when it is not?

Your air conditioning died because there was not enough power to support the blowers, compressor, electric fan.

A vehicle is self-sustaining. It will stay running without a battery if the alternator is good...

But, for this moment? The OP needs a charged battery to make it home

No. Test the battery properly. Use a multimeter set to Volts..if it is charging properly you should see over 14 volts at the battery when running and a stable 12 1/2 volts when not running.

If the alternator is functioning it will keep the car running without the battery.

And I'll add If you see over 14 when running the alt is charging properly.

Then you should add that it should be 14.5 volts, and it's overcharging at 16V, you can burn a battery up if it's too high, and it won't charge the battery at or under 12.7

Fair enough

I was just giving some basic info because a lot of folks parts-cannon the car in these charging situations. Buy an alternator when is really just the battery and vice versa. Then end up bying both when it was not necessary.
