Berkey water filters are GARBAGE!

Berkey works great for me.

I don't trust those multi 5-7 stage filters with various different media it filters through. That stuff is almost certainly china sourced, who knows what it is?

thanks for sharing... I was not impress with the berkey either... I think filtering your water through a terra cotta pot is more efficient , but I have a deep well so I don't need to filter my water any more

those filter (for your kitchen sink use CHEMICALS ... not a good idea

Berkey's are great. I've had mine for years. They last long and the water is so fresh and pure. You can smell the chlorine in the tap water, but after its been through the Berkey it smells and tasts fresh and clean. Make sure you drip test before you start using it. Fill the tank up and make sure there's no leaks, if the seals are not on properly then it won't work.

The filter is made out of graphene?

You only think it works good. How old is it? ALL the ones I had went bad between 6 months to a year. It starts slow and you don't notice it. Then it gets worse. Might as well not even filter it at all (which is what happens). Do some research!

10+yrs ago Berkey had an issue with their "Black" elements and yes it was an issue with the seals going bad. I was told that issue was resolved before I bought 3 Berkeys, and I have never had issues.

Might be best to buy direct from Berkey or from an authorized dealer as there may be some of those bad elements out there. I bought direct from Berkey in 2012.

They ignored all the complaints and continued selling them For YEARS! If you want to be safe from this a-hole companies garbage you should put food grade silicone or aquarium sealer around the sides of the base and 3/4 inch up the filter part. How can you trust them? They need to be sued into oblivion!

The only plastic parts in my Berkey are the fluoride filters, and they don't have any glue.

You can test this easily. Put some food coloring in the top tank and see if it makes it into the bottom tank. If not, your seal is still ok, if it colors the lower water it is failing. Why would you bet your life on such a criminal company?

The base of your main filter IS plastic! WTF are you talking about?

I got 5+yrs out of my first set of black elements and currently at 5yrs on my second set of black elements. No leaks, only issue is it has slowed down a bit. I filter 2 gallons a day.

You need to replace those two plug things every once in a while I have a Berkey and the filters last forever. I bought mine on sale about six years ago, love it.

The Berkey website tells you that they dont sell on amazon, OP got scammed and is whining.

I bought mine about 10-12 years ago from a berkey dealer. IDK if amazon still sells them, I don't shop amazon. I just read the similar reviews.

Take the black filters out and scrub them gently with a brillo pad for a few minutes. Rinse and place them back, they should filter good as new.

I guess it is, but what does that have to do with anything? Its never failed for me in over a decade of ownership and daily usage. You sound like you were sexually molested by a berkey filter or something. Tell us on the doll where the filter touched you....

I had a big berkey years back, didn't care for it at all. Only used it for a few months then packed it up and put it in the attic.

Now I have an electric water distiller and I drink distilled water only. Love it! it removes EVERYTHING from the water and you are drinking only pure water. It is kind of a hassle tho, but worth it when I see the crap that is in the bottom of the distiller after distilling water. TO think I used to be ingesting that stuff.......ugh.

The black elements on the Berkey failing is operator error. When you clean them and they are wet inside it is important not to lay the the filter on it's side when you reinstall them. Many people lay the stainless steel on it's side and reinstall the clean filters. The weight of the water can damage the seal between the bottom of the filter and the plastic base. If you install they the way the maker say, vertically, they work perfect. I have been using the Berkey system for more than 20 years. It works great, just like anything else, if you use it correctly.

The first element that failed I didn't know for a long time. I thought the filter "broke in" after a week because the flow had improved. I drank undesirable water for months.

As recommended by Berkey themselves. They also came out 10yrs ago and admitted there was an issue with the seals, and that the issue was resolved. Employee I spoke with on the phone when ordering 10yrs said it right to me. They did not seem to be trying to hide anything.
