They should put small solar charge panel on back of phones to help them last longer before needing AC charging.

Re: Things I bought for my road trip on the bus
I don't understand.

Is this similar to those "I have a hankering for 12 taco bell hamburgers and a diet coke" messages, where there's something else encoded in the message?

These things combined don't make sense.

A Wrangler belt, wallet, watch and necklace and bracelet.
 Quoting: Aevan 80841609

Why would a man that's traveling on a bus on a limited income buy these things? I could see if it was 'grandpa's watch' or similar, but ... Wrangler? Does Wrangler even make necklaces and bracelets?

Four Quiksilver beach towels.
[...]
A bottle of gain laundry detergent.
 Quoting: Aevan 80841609

On a bus trip? These things are heavy and take up space.

Why not a bar of laundry soap, like Zote, so you can wash in a sink in a rest stop if you need to?

Packing four towels on a bus / bike trip? Four??? This is why I think this has to be a coded message of some kind.

People saving space and weight would, for instance, use a large flannel shirt as a towel. If you need to fly, you can throw it on so your bag isn't overweight.

Unisom sleep tabs.
Yellow jacket energy pills and 5 hour energy.
 Quoting: Aevan 80841609

Who the heck uses both of these? When you're needing to be the type of person throwing back shots of 5 Hour Energy, you tend to be able to sleep when standing up when you get the chance.

Do you use either of these now?

Re: Things I bought for my road trip on the bus
You don't mention any sort of sunscreen or insect repellent.

If you're going to be on a bus in close quarters, I'd strongly consider using something to prevent catching things from your seatmates.

I'd skip the 'body spray' and use a combination of DEET spray and some geranium-oil based natural repellent.

Against head lice,

Some experts believe prophylactic treatment is prudent for persons who share the same bed with actively-infested individuals.
[...]
Given as a tablet in mass drug administrations, oral ivermectin has been used extensively and safely for over two decades in many countries to treat filarial worm infections. Although not FDA-approved for the treatment of lice, ivermectin tablets given in a single oral dose of 200 micrograms/kg or 400 micrograms/kg repeated in 9-10 days has been shown effective against head lice.

For the biking part, the East Coast is not a good place to be bitten by things.

Based on this trial, a single dose of doxycycline 200 mg orally may be considered in patients bitten by a tick that can be identified as an I. scapularis tick. Current recommendations are to use prophylaxis only in areas with high rates of tick infection (rates >20%). Lyme endemic areas are generally considered to be the eastern seaboard of the United States from Maryland to Maine [...]
Before considering antibiotic prophylaxis, it should be established that the tick has been attached for >36 hours, and prophylaxis, if given, should begin within 72 hours of removal of the tick.

Vermont appears to be one of the areas with a high incident rate of Lyme. [link to www.cdc.gov (secure)]

If you need all this ... Fluconazole would theoretically take care of foot fungal issues from shared showers or wherever they were acquired: [link to www.singlecare.com (secure)]

If you already have a fish tank, you'd already have these things handy, but they would be cheaper to get from a doctor if you have Medicare or similar.

Reef Flux Anti-Fungal = Fluconazole 200mg

Fishbiotic Doxy is actually rather expensive, especially if you just need two. It's much, much cheaper from India, but takes at least a month to arrive.

Ivermectin has already been covered here on GLP.

Another thing OP is that you didn't have cannabis on there, probably best. When I last rode, I didn't realize that Las Vegas is narco central, and thus they literally drive the bus underground and have DEA enter the bus and face down every passenger, eye to eye, and ask you about a y z, and I mean, supreme goon level of Vegas Shooting typo of FBI shutdown goombah, is who is looking at you. Any smart remark and you would be hauled off, the bus would leave and that's that. ONLY in Las Vegas does this happen at the greyhound terminal.

Another thing about the greyhound terminals at least in Sac is that they hire "All World Security" or some such other shitty rent a cop org.

I never trusted that the greyhund terminals are not staffed by actual local people. It's a pipeline of shit OP

At the outset of COVID I made a meme about testing the greyhound shitters and shutting down the greyhound lines, but at that time, I realized, 'if they dont do so, then that tells us what's really up' and they did not do so and the busses rolled and the destruction of America continues.

Is a Greyhound Bus Ticket to Burlington, Vermont.
 Quoting: Aevan 80841609

The cheapest Greyhound ticket from Little Rock to Burlington is $202.

The bike will cost an additional $30 or $40 dollars ( [link to www.pinch-flat.com (secure)] ), and you'd have to trust it to make every connection between four different buses. It's also a 2 to 3 day trip.

Amtrak is $250, similar 2 to 3 days, and is two trains and a bus.

Right now there's a $172 flight with two connections /14 hours with layovers on United, and several one connection / 6 hour trips for $310.

The bike would be $150 or under depending on the airline and how you pack it. [link to www.twowheeledwanderer.com (secure)]

All things combined, traveling by bus may not actually be the cheapest method.
