Stevia... why is it being forced into every "Natural" product?
It was banned in 1991 due to cancer-causing effects. Then, just like aspartame and others, it became GRAS.

Suuuuure, it's "safe." One of Stevia's metabolites acts as an endocrine disruptor. Yet, it's in almost every single store-bought "natural" tooth-paste, smoothie/protein mix, "keto" product, and it's sneaking its way into other products that aren't even labeled as sugar free or diet.

Any of you GLPers notice how bad this stuff makes you feel?

Stevia causes insulin response:

Stevioside acts directly on pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin: actions independent of cyclic adenosine monophosphate and adenosine triphosphate-sensitive K+-channel activity

Went to a coffee shop the other day and asked for sugar and they gave me stevia packs. I said, no the sugar please. They don’t even carry sugar anymore. I literally said “are you fucking kidding me?” then drank my coffee black

I don't know about the US, but here Stevia is replacing aspartame in products that previously used tha later. I would take Stevia any day instead of aspartame. Stevia is a natural product, aspartame is an artificial neurotoxin.

I bought seeds to grow Stevia this spring but never got them in the ground. From rareseeds.

Are you saying the plant is bad for you?

The stuff tastes disgusting to me.

People say it can be good.

I'd just as soon skip it and go without.

Stevia Risks

The FDA approved only the purified form of stevia, called stevioside, as safe to use. Products considered safe contain words in their ingredient list such as stevia extract or Stevia rebaudiana. If you see whole stevia leaves or crude stevia extracts at your local natural foods store, don’t buy them. The FDA says it doesn’t have enough information about their potential impact on your health, including kidney and cardiovascular problems.

Ahhhh yes, if you grow your own you'll die because you're not supporting wall street bankers.

Re: Stevia... why is it being forced into every "Natural" product?
Occasionally, I'll drink a lot of re-hydration/electrolyte drinks. Some have sugar, some have Stevie. I prefer the sugar ones, but we all know too much sugar is bad. I don't want to become diabetic. So, I try to limit my sugar. I'll mix 2 re-hydration products like fruit punch flavored DripDrop and fruit punch flavored NUUN together. One contains sugar, the other contains Stevie. Tastes fine.

I do eat other things that have sugar in it, so it all does add up. So, I try to compromise where I can.

Stevia found in products or alone in stores is refined from the leaves using solvents and other industrial methods. It's not "natural" at that point.

The "natural" form isn't even allowed by the FDA.

What really bothers me, many stevia sweeteners include other ingredients that spike blood sugar more than refined white sugar. I threw out a large container of it after realizing this.

Stevia reduces fertility. That’s been known for years. Hell, the native Indians in Paraguay drank it as a contraceptive.

That is why it is being put into so many products. Get the population down by promoting stevia, just like they promote transgenderism and homosexuality, two reproductive dead ends.

Are than any actual conspiracy theorists here on this forum, apart from myself and perhaps a half-dozen others? I seriously wonder. This has been common knowledge among CT’s for at least two decades now.

Long story short, there seemed to be a correlation between stevia consumption and foot pain for both my father and I.

Stopped the stevia and neither of us have the foot pain any more.

That's interesting. I've been reading this site for over a decade and never heard about the stevia conspiracy.

Lol

But it totally explains it if it's a natural contraceptive.

A water decoction of the plant Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni reduces fertility in adult female rats of proven fertility. The decoction continues to descrease fertility for at least 50 to 60 days after intake is stopped. The decoction did not affect appetite and apparently did not affect the health of adults rats.

Oh look, NOT poisonous.
