I will say this though.
My drill instructor walked us through the command structure of the military. It was supposedly designed I'm such a way that one extremist faction of the government could not control it all.

This is why, back in the day, I made such a big deal about wrongfully using national guard troops in Iraq.
And...
It was a national guard unit back from Iraq that went into new Orleans with guns at the ready after hurricane Katrina.
