I spent a night up at Fox glacier, freaky place, the kea bird is fascinating, it's rumoured there is a thousands of years old stone city in the far north, waipoua forest, it's also possible the Phoenician were here pre Taupo eruption, 600 year before the Maori, it's also possible the Chinese mined iron here pre 1400s
