Linus Torvalds got infected by the woke virus and his mind might be subject to extremist ideologies Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84053470 2. He prefers functionality over security and his kernel is too big, buggy and it seriously sucks in many ways 3. Even Windows 10 does better kernel security than Linux 4.x (Windows NT team changed their bug tracking and follow up after two decades of failures) 4. Linus Torvalds does not know how to install a Linux distribution. Find the interviews. He is only a kernel guy. He runs simple things like Red hat ... he can't maintain systems Who knows who else watching his own 'secure' system in real time... 5. He had unbased battles with gr who did actual kernel security 6. Linux used to be 300k lines of code. Now 5 million 7. Who knows how many developers are on some foreign pay roll to undermine things 'by accident' in their communities, introducing new bugs for a living while playing programming guy... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82719533 Hacked OS is irrelevant. Back entry is built into most CPUs now at level far below OS. When you bring home a new computer you are already hacked. So go ahead and cheerlead your pointless (from security standpoint) OS. It doesn't matter anymore. [link to www.sysjolt.com (secure)] Yep, the government agencies are going to have access to your system regardless of what OS you are running. The reason I use MX Linux is because it does everything I need on an older computer using much less resources than any other non Linux OS. MovesLikeJagger |

True If you're going to compute Linux is the superior software at least And if you're dedicacted you cna get a machine with Intel ME disabled. |
Bill User ID: 48627634 United States 10/28/2022 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why you SHOULD use Linux: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76815515 1. Your only other options are Windows or Mac. Both horrible, full of back doors for the NSA etc. 2. There are about 1000 different versions of Linux, so you can't just lump them all together like it's one operating system. 3. Linux is OPEN SOURCE. When means anyone can see the code. This makes it safer as the govt cannot install back doors etc, that Windows and Mac are RIDDLED WITH. 4. Linus is FREE. 5. Linux has the built in security of asking for passwords for any changes made to the system. I switched to Linux when the "Windows 10" garbage came out. I will never go back. I still use Windows at work because that's what they have there. Would never use Windows for person use or business use if I had my own business. Exactly. The points made by the OP are idiotic. Since when does Linus Torvalds have anything to do with most versions of linux? I've been running it since 2011 and I've never had any problems with malware or viruses anymore |

I like my Fedora Linux distribution and prefer GNOME desktop to Windows 11 desktop. There can be however nice conspiracy there. I understand Open Source kernel, Open Source languages, open source ERP systems, because there ways to monetize them. But the the hell writes GNOME, KDE, GIMP, Blender, LibreOffice or even Firefox ? Are they communists ? |

Quoting: mosiu I've always been suspicious that people develop these programs totally free of charge out of some belief in open source software and desire to donate their time, effort and expertise for no personal gain. It's just not human nature, the vast majority of people only do something if there's a direct benefit to them. And developing software for free is hardly a "feel good" charitable endeavour, it's not exactly volunteering at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. My gut feeling is there's more than meets the eye with this "FOSS" software, but I'm not sure what exactly. |

Open source only means that the back doors are "visible". But that is ONLY if you can completely understand the code. Nation based hackers can modify one or two lines of code in several different functions that result in a back door. I promise you this is REALLY HARD to recognize. |

Get Hurd instead of Linux What is this "Hurd" that you speak of? Hurd is special story. It started somewhere in time of Linux "because Linux is >>monolithic<< and is only GPL2 licensed" by Free Software Foundation which maintains copy left licenses and especially GPL license. Hurd have concept of remote communication between processors. Some time ago I wanted to see how it works so I downloaded its source code. I found it uses Mach kernel code which is licensed not compatible with GPL. So I wrote to FSF that their own software violates its license. |
