Message Subject Considering everything that is going on right now, would you buy a house if it was cheaper than renting?

Well, my spouse is in the military, so we are guaranteed a VA loan. Our credit is pretty good as well. Problem is, if we get sent to where I think we will, I really don't want to buy a home, as if we can't sell it when we get transferred again, I don't want to be stuck with a house in a place we don't plan on ever going back to. On the other hand, we have talked a long time about buying a "retirement" property or other such place, in an area we would love to be in. Just wondering if we should buy a house where we will be living and take our chances we will be able to sell it when the time comes in a couple of years, or buy a property/house/bug out place where we want to be after he retires.
