Re: US faces biggest strike EVER as 350,000 UPS workers demand better conditions - even though package delivery drivers already earn up to $95,000
UPS' contract is set to expire on July 31, 2023, and 350,000 of its 534,000 employees are expected to go on strike to demand better conditions

They are demanding air conditioning in the back of trucks, better pay packages, and benefits

UPS drivers already make around $95,000 yearly on average and receive an additional $50,000 in benefits

However, the median salary for the company is around $44,000, which is still significantly higher than its competitors, Amazon and FedEx

UPS handles 21.5million packages a day and - the only carrier with the capacity to do so - and controls about six percent of the nation's GDP

If the workers go on strike, it will be the first time the company has since 1997

So, if they strike for an extended period, how will the pallets of Chinese made mail in ballots get to the vote counting centers?

Yep and they bust their asses working the belt in the sorting facilities sometimes for years before they ever get into a truck and earn good money.

MacDonald's workers in California will be making $22/hour soon. That's $44,000/year.

Given the fact that most corportations dont give a shit about people these days and never will. I dont doubt that the ac they give these people works well at all. Why not just give them what they want? Whats the issue itll be a damn drop in the bucket for upcocksucker

A bunch of tards commenting. One of the worst type of arguments... drivers shouldn't get paid that much while teachers are paid less. Ummm, that just means teachers need to be paid more, nothing to do with drivers asking for better pay. By the way, truckers keep this world moving. I swear, a lot of people are so brainwashed they lick the boot every chance they get, even when it's about others demanding better conditions and benefits. Mind your own.

GOOD!! I am demanding it too, and I am a RECIPIENT ONLY: tired of receiving my food & medicine fried, dried and expired because it good ruined, melted & PERISHED in heat.

You cannot buy ANY vitamins, organic skin care or food in hot months. If you live AZ, So Cal, New Mexico or NV that means ANY month of the year which can have a heat wave in December and January (all of the above do!!!)

We NEED a/c in the BACK of hot delivery trucks. WTF?? HOW do people keep ordering and not get it. I see the reviews all the time:

"It smelled awful".

What do you expect?!?! I once bought NAC and counted on the next day delivery, as I always time my deliveries for weather. Fuckers messed up and delivered it ACROSS THE DESERT in a heat wave, from 75F to 115F!!! WTF???

I never bought again in the summer except timing it and when they mess up, it arrives PERISHED!!!!

(Same goes for dumb Amz drivers who refuse to turn on the a/c!)

Salary has NOTHING to do with dying of heat stroke!!! or botching up our precious cargo which leads to money loss as vitamin companies won't refund you!

Truckers are working long 12 hour days 7 days a week to make up for the driver shortages. Money isn't everything if you don't have a life. My son is a truck driver doing deliveries. He says they don't have enough drivers therefore they are offered higher wages to do more work. Sure they make a lot of money but no life outside of work and no time to spend any of it. And with gas prices, taxes, and inflation rising what money they bring home makes it feel like they are only getting not much more than a livable wage. When they deliver the goods to the customers, their customers don't have an enough people to unload the trucks and stock the shelves so the drivers are being expected to do that work too.

No he is correct, 80-100k is really the bare minimum to live a decent life in america.

We are both over 80 and live on soc sec combined of 1,6oo a month. Our small house and both older vehicles paid for. Since we live in the UP of MI we have free access to Lakes Superior or Michigan for beaches or his old fishing boat. I cook from scratch and we pick tons of all kinds of berries and freeze them. He gets a moose every year and shares half with our families. Im recovering good from a hip fracture in March...just did four loads of laundry and made Pasties for dinner last night. (Those are meat pies).
All meds paid by soc sec and our emergency fund, I signed out of the hospital at four days and my sister came over for a week and by then we had worked out everything and tribal women had walkers and canes etc all ready. when Im ok I;ll send them back for someone else to use.

I only use a basic heart med. and my vitimens, most of which we get from food we grow in our average size yard and we also plant sage and sweetgrass etc all over state parks and harvest that,LOL. we avoided Diabetes by not taking statin drugs, and having a good healthy diet. Only drink coffee, tea or water, If we are not majorly ill, we self treat each other. My sisters and I all specialize, one can heal headaches, one is good with lung issues. No one in my family had "covid" just a light flu.My sister only gets 6oo a month as she was a mom and home maker but we all help one another to get by. I take her shopping or to appointments. There are always feast days, birthdays, weddings (with alot of fiddle players, guitars etc.)and skiing winter sports and summer all kinds of recreation for free, so we have lots of fun.Plus Mass every Sunday and in between, pow=wows and sweat lodges etc.

Its possible to live in a small town with a big family that all help each other,on little money if you hunt, fish and garden, even in a small yard, as you pick a lettuce or radishes, immediately plant another in its place and can or dry stuff like herbs etc.
