Some situations you can’t prevent. Our dog killed two cats when we lived in a neighborhood, both wandered into our yard even after I asked both neighbors to keep an eye on their cats. He never bit them once, he’s half border collie and half yellow lab, but he pounced in them with his front paws and crushed both. We paid for all vet costs, and I paid for the cremation of one, not sure what they did with the other. I felt horrible but I let them know our dog did go after cats that came into his territory.

Saw a video on another platform (twitter wasn’t around yet) of a similar situation. It was on someone’s front porch. That cat cornered the dog at one point and the dog just ran past the cat as it took it’s last lunge at the dog before the dog fled.

We had two hunting dogs. One was well behaved. The other got out and mangled and attacked our whole flock of turkeys. We did not know that this would happen until it happened. We had to butcher and process them to put them out of their misery that year about 9 months early. That dog NEVER got another chance to do that again. EVER.
