It is a glass sphere that measures about 2.6 cm in diameter and is partly broken showing large vesicles inside (figure 1). Part of the surface is covered with micrometeorite craters. ... See et al. (1986) and Morris et al. (1986) determined the composition of 60095 (table 1). Ganapathy et al. (1974) determined trace elements. It is similar in composition to other glass thought to be ejecta from South Ray Crater and similar to bulk soil composition (figure 2)." [link to curator.jsc.nasa.gov (secure)] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80141479 United States 09/17/2022 09:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Recently Chinese spacecraft brought back some soil samples from our Moon. The samples are found to contain water. Quoting: Wretch Fossil However, the rocks and soils brought back by Apollo astronauts contain no water. NASA used this dry feature to claim the samples are really from our Moon. i remember one of the "moon rocks" from Apollo turned out to be a piece of petrified wood. I believe it was a moon rock given to the dutch. Not sure edit: [link to www.cbc.ca (secure)] You remember wrong. It did not come from NASA. It was found in the former Dutch prime minister's estate and ASSUMED to be a Moon rock. It may have been given to him by a US ambassador but it was not labeled as a Moon rock and would have been at a time they were not giving out Moon rocks at all and given to a private citizen which was never done. |

Quoting: Wretch Fossil This paper from the 1970s says otherwise. [link to adsabs.harvard.edu (secure)] Apollo astronauts "brought back" meteorites, not real moon rocks. Experts studying the "moon rocks" say that, not just me. Name ONE actual expert that says that. |

Quoting: Wretch Fossil This paper from the 1970s says otherwise. [link to adsabs.harvard.edu (secure)] Apollo astronauts "brougt back" mostly rocks (in fact, Martian meteorites). Soil was less than 10% (?). Water in those soil was found to be same or similar to the water of meteorites (see the first paragraph in the abstract in your own link). Those soil contains negligible water amount. Otherwise, why did NASA claim the "moon rocks" are bone dry (containing almost no water) and cited the point to claim they are really from the moon? In fact, water vapor are all over our moon. Water ice and liquid water are also on our moon. Check it and you will find NASA wrong about their claim.
