This is kinda interesting, would not be surprised to see an eruption within the next year and this volcano historically produces very large eruptions.

I have to look up details on it but I believe it is classified a a super volcano with VEI 6 capability and to my knowledge This is the first time I have seen an alert level on a super volcano.

If it erupts in any capacity it will be a really big deal for New Zealand as even in its small eruptions it tends to produce alot of ash fall. The volcano has an interesting eruption history, all of which are explosive events with a huge range of eruptive volume. The magma chamber on this guy is immense but only 30% eruptable at last estimate by seismographic chamber melt data.

It's an interesting one to watch, I'm kinda cheering for the volcano as a point of karma for all the super wealthy who bought estates in New Zealand as a escape if things ever hit the fan.
