What is happening is that Lake Powell is releasing twice the water that it gets as inflow.

Lake Mead is releasing half the water it then receives from Lake Powell.

Simple maths - pouring water from one cup into another.

As I understand, Lake Mead has only reached it's maximum capacity twice since the Hoover Dam was built (which might be a good thing considering events at Oroville).

Besides the fact that Lake Powell has a leakage problem since it's built in an area with high sand content, lets look at your own numbers. Namely Powell's outflow was 9,026. But what was Mead's inflow? 11,408! 11,408 minus 9,026 means Lake Mead didn't pick up a mere cup like you want to pretend but 2,382 cubic feet per second!!

There's a lot of seconds in a day. 60 x 60 x 2 4 x 2,382 gallons which comes to nearly 206 million cubic feet of water per day.

As for your ignorant remarks about a day's worth of rain, since I started doing this (It's temporarily stopped to hopefully deal with Tropical disturbance No. 9), it rained 64 out of 65 days in a row somewhere along the Colorado River, producing about 5 times the normal rainfall in most locals.

The water had to go somewhere. At first the ground was so dry, the water was merely absorbed by the earth. But as the rain continued, the rainwater saturated the earth and went to the river and the lakes.
