Lake Powell continues to decrease. Fail thread. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78658862 Riiiiigght!!! Dream on. The entire Colorado basin area has seen 3-5 times as much rain as normal in the last three months, but you want to dream outflows have been reduced. Of course, that is utter nonsense because the folks who make decisions about placing limits on Mead want water levels to be even lower as a basis for their decisions. They have an agenda to makes matters more extreme. Lake Powell has a leakage problem. You're an idiot. [link to lakemead.water-data.com (secure)] There is no discernible pattern from the inflows and outflows to claim what you have claimed. The inflows include waters from Tributaries and adjoining rivers that have received increased amounts of rain. Outflows include how much water is being used. Cooler temps and increased rain lessen the needs for outflows and electricity for air conditioning. Meanwhile the rainfall for that area of the country has been five times higher than normal, and the lake's level has increased due to the runoff from the basin. Outflows from Lake Mead were cut big time. You must be blind or illiterate. Or another loser troll. Definitely that. |

It is difficult to make a claim of efficacy if a Cat-4 becomes a Cat-3 or Cat-2 or even a Cat-1. The objective isn't bragging rights, but to prevent lifechanging harm to hundreds of thousands of people. So I'll show you a video after Hurricane Michael which hit Panama City where I loved. My neighbor across the street had been a roofer for five years. He said our roofs would not withstand a Cat-3. Hurricane Michael was a Cat-5. No one on our block lost their roof. A few sprung minor leaks or had the metal roof slightly bent at one corner but no leak as is what happened to my roof. Two similar complexes with the same roofs suffered 100% evictions. We had no evictions. Based on what I was using at the time which was far less than what I have now, the storm was lifted 10 or 20 feet on our block which was enough to prevent a catastrophe for the residents of our block. |

UPDATE: Weatherman Plus on YT says there is some wind shear now keeping 98L from completely organizing for the moment, but the storm will experience rapid intensification in the next 60 to 84 hours. So I'm going to start blasting it now rather than wait in the hopes that the present disorganization intensifies due to wind shear before 98L has a chance to fatten up later on and become a major killer and destroyer. |

Besides the fact that Lake Powell has a leakage problem since it's built in an area with high sand content, lets look at your own numbers. Namely Powell's outflow was 9,026. But what was Mead's inflow? 11,408! 11,408 minus 9,026 means Lake Mead didn't pick up a mere cup like you want to pretend but 2,382 cubic feet per second!! There's a lot of seconds in a day. 60 x 60 x 2 4 x 2,382 gallons which comes to nearly 206 million cubic feet of water per day. As for your ignorant remarks about a day's worth of rain, since I started doing this (It's temporarily stopped to hopefully deal with Tropical disturbance No. 9), it rained 64 out of 65 days in a row somewhere along the Colorado River, producing about 5 times the normal rainfall in most locals. The water had to go somewhere. At first the ground was so dry, the water was merely absorbed by the earth. But as the rain continued, the rainwater saturated the earth and went to the river and the lakes. |
