This. Working from home is smart, if you can pull it off, and not everyone can. It takes discipline, but the benefits are obvious to those who can do it. I recently hacked together a career as a freelance software engineer, and have been loving every second of it. It amuses me when app developers call themselves software engineers. You're not an engineer, bud. You're an app developer. An engineer is anyone who designs or builds structures, virtual or otherwise. I design and build systems that thousands of people and businesses rely on every day, applying many subsets of logic, math, and science to get the job done. I may not be designing planes or rocket ships, but the work I do is valuable, and is highly sought after. |
