their showcase maneuver here is to completely stop on the highway, then
put their blinker on and turn slowly. i guarantee that any state drivers handbook says to exit a highway in a much
safer procedure. i definitely would not tailgate these crazies
around here.

a very dangerous move is to stop at all yield signs like
they are stop signs. trying to enter a freeway can be very
dangerous when a hesitant or overly cautious paranoid
driver is in front of you stopping at a yield sighn.

This. Im in NVA off 95. The average speed, when people are not in the way holding everyone up, which is very often is 85/95 mph.
When im on my bike, ill run 85/100mph and vehicles are right there with me. Ill have to open it up to get out away from them if Im wanting toodo so.
I think its the vehicles. Theyre built to go fast. They handle great at high speeds, they have plenty of power and most have good braking systems. I also think that during/after the lockdowns something changed on the highways......It was like a giant FUK IT happened.

Just today my local newspaper reported 3 major FATAL car accidents, people driving into ditches, crossing the line and smashing into oncoming traffic that happened in just the last day.

Again, reports like this everyday and so little analysis given.

I drive a truck for a living and see it day in and day out. The past year drivers have changed, I see people taking huge risks. I’ve changed my driving habits, I try to stick to big roads, because on the back roads everyone thinks they are dale Earnhardt and are all up in my ass... dude, its a FN truck, of course it’s slow... and I’m hauling hazardous materials to boot.

I saw a young girl the other night hauling ass without lights on, she nearly tboned a car turning at like 50mph, inches away.

Pulled up next to her in the lanes and i was on passenger side, rolled down my window but could barley get her attention to tell her to turn her lights on.

And when i did, and she turned them on, she didn't even seem to realize she just narrowly avoided a bad bad accident, very disconnected.

She was 100% liberal and vaxxed.

I am not the o.p. I have been tailgated because i have been driving for a while now, but as I am not the o.p. i will say this does not happen to me every time I drive.

The one I can’t comprehend that I see all the time now:

I’ll be driving down a 2 lane road (usually in a neighborhood) and another driver to my left makes a right turn from a side street and the whole front 1/4 of their vehicle crosses over into my lane. They can’t make a right turn and keep their vehicle from crossing the center line. I just don’t get it.

Is getting worse and worse. I wish I had superpowers. All the people that cut me off will be sitting by the side of the road with tires being deflated.

there is a good damn reason for the speed limits assholes. something called, velocity and impact etc etc. look it up.

and when someone says to themselves “i’m a good driver and the other people aren’t, I can handle whatever ” that just screams overconfidence.

Always have a dashcam these days no matter what you drive. If nothing else, you are almost guaranteed to be able to share something interesting online.

I recently visited my sister in Wisconsin. We went on a 20 minute drive to my brother's place on one of the local highways. The speed limit was 70 and everyone was going 90. I couldn't believe it and asked my sister why she wasn't afraid of a speeding ticket. She said she had never seen anyone pulled over on that road and that everyone goes 90. She said if you don't people drive aggressively, tail gate you, and fly past you in a rage. She just goes 20 mph over the speed limit and thinks nothing of it. Crazy shit.

It depends where you are driving like that. If it's a country, two way road, or a single line per way road, you are right, but if you just drive with ten MPH over the limit, in the passing/fast line, on a on a multiline interstate, you are a d1ck and people are right to call you out. Not to push you off the road, but doing that shows complete disrespect to anyone else on the road.

A lot of people are not properly trained to drive. Nobody is taking actual classes anymore. Specially in USA.

Everyone is just learning from his mom or father and they just carry over someone else's mistakes.

People just drive for themselves this days and have zero regard for the basic rules of the road.

Just because you are driving over the speed limit, it doesn't give you the right to just sleep in the passing line.
In countries where driving is being taken seriously, you'll get a ticket for doing that, but in US you can, legally, just sit there, in the passing line , like a cow, slowing all highway traffic.
You pass, then get off the fast line. You don't just sit there.

I’ll look for roads or driveways to pull into if someone really needs to go by me.
