Electric car chargepoint operator Osprey ups rates to record £1 per kWh making it pricier than fuelling a petrol model
The nation sighed in collective relief earlier this month when new Prime Minister Liz Truss announced an unprecedented £150billion energy support package that would see typical annual domestic energy bills frozen at £2,500 for two years.

The news will be welcomed by electric cars owners who charge vehicles at home, as they are now guaranteed cheaper running costs than if Ofgem's energy price cap was introduced from next month.

However, electric car drivers without off-street parking and a homecharger are already seeing the cost of boosting their EV's batteries soar, with one provider increasing the price of plugging into its network by more than 50 per cent - which would make annual running costs more expensive than an equivalent petrol model.

Re: Electric car chargepoint operator Osprey ups rates to record £1 per kWh making it pricier than fuelling a petrol model
Is there any way to pay cash at these charging stations?

Where's the office, convenience store, etc?

Do they tolerate people sitting in the car smoking during the charge?

What about sleeping in the car during the recharge?

A lot of you are too young to remember but back in the first gas crunch a lot of people started to figure out that that it was becoming cheaper to own a diesel powered car and made the switch.
Can you guess what happened boyz and grilz?lmao

Serves them right.

Virtue signalling muppets are all gonna be dead in another year anyway as most electric car drivers will be whackcinated so why not squeeze a few moar bob out of 'em first?

Those of the letter J began WW1 they designed the League of Nations and when that didn't gain traction they began WW2 which ushered in the United Nations as a control tool. The J want a UN building code among other things dark and destructive against the g0 y. They want to get rid of all wood, coal, pellet, K-1, home heaters and force 100% electric because they can control the flow of electricity (spice).

The "soon" idea is to gain 100% control of electricity, money using their digital currency, and more. They can cut you off from heating and cooling via electricity, cut you off from your money using digital which they can stop or take at any time. Even if you drop to your knees and pleasure the J machine they will crush many of you just because that's how the Marxists do it. They don't give a dam about the non J .

It's just a gimmick for the well to do yuppies who think that they are smart because of a college degree.

It would take decades, better technology, upgraded power grids to actually make it worthwhile to push electric cars.

That's the best case scenario.

Even if there was energy infrastructure in place to support
mass charging of EVs which there isn't.

The Vehicles are basically a load of shit.

Ideal for a Granny who goes to the local Shop or Doctors every few days.

Ranges are dependent on many factors including temperature and weather conditions.

The Batteries life span is not great. Some lose 15% capacity per year. Meaning in 3 years the batteries are literally 50% of what they were.

How the fuck you going to get back what you pay for a new premium EV Vesicle.

I trade in my ICE Audi every 3 years meaning i can literally afford to drive a new car every 3 years because of the good resale value.

I buy a premium EV and wait 3 years to resell or trade in i am going to get hammered financially for the gimmick.

Makes no financial sense to invest in a premium model EV unless you have money to burn, literally.

Then there is the other side of EV their affect on the environment. Meaning hundreds of thousand of tons of green belt land has to be mined for rare earth metals for every vehicle.

The whole idea is to protect the environment, seemingly by destroying it first.

Every new ICE engine is literally made from already mined Metals recycled perennially.

Wind Turbines the Blades have to be changed every few years. The Blades are that toxic they can not be recycled but go in to land fill.

It is all a scam to make billions for a minority who wont be seen dead in an EV or eat Ze Bugs.

I am not making shit up at all.

You are using one specific brand of Ev, which is a premium EV to try and undermine the whole argument.

The EV market is saturated with shit vehicles, many with dangerous/sub standard batteries.

The average person wont be spunking 50- 60 Grand on a Tesla you fool.

They will be buying the cheaper variants made in China etc.

We get it you drink Soy Milk and drive around in a Tesla thinking you are cool.

I drive an Audi because i prefer German engineering to cheap dangerous shit.US/UK made vehicles.

I personally know people who have had battery problems within months of buying an EV.

Sure it will come under warranty, still it is disconcerting.

Anyone with a brain knew that was coming...just a matter of time.

Get people to get rid of their petrol cars, with gimmicks and false promises, and then boost electricity costs through the roof and HIGHLY regulated (your social credit score will determine how much electricity you can use each month).

In most areas of the US, one electricity provider serves a given geographical area, unlike the dozens/hundreds of corporate and independently owned petrol stations.

It's MUCH easier to regulate electricity, and who is allowed to have how much, versus trying to regulate petrol stations.

Teslas have a good resale value mostly because there is such a long wait (3 months - 6+ months) to get one, and with less than 1% of the population wanting an EV, it's a very niche market which is why they can charge exorbitant prices to begin with and why people selling used ones can charge high prices.

Right now a Tesla Model X would have a estimated resale value of 47% of it's original purchase price after 5 years.

Tesla Model X new price: $123,000+
Tesla Model X 5 years old resale value: $57,000
Net loss over 5 years: $66,000
Net loss per year: $13,200

If you're not spending > $13,200 per year in gasoline, you're losing money.

I'll use one of my cars as a counter-example:

Mazda CX-5 new price (2018): $27500
Mazda CX-5 x 4 years old resale value: $22,500 (what the dealer is offering me)
Net loss over 4 years: $5,000
Net loss per year: $1,250.00

This is a simple price comparison/value retained comparison.
It doesn't factor in electric grid overload issues and numerous other issues that affect EVs.
