Losing my faith. Don't feel the Holy Ghost. My 'spirituality' consists of reading a holy book and praying to an invisible, absent deity
Man, why couldn't God have planned something better than this for his followers?

So repetitive. So dull. So lifeless. So tired of feeling nothing when I pray. I read the Bible and all I get are creeping doubts that it was put together by men.

How could He be silent and absent for so long? I feel like at this point, the only thing sustaining my faith is my human will to keep trudging along with prayer and Bible reading.

Is the God I pray to really the same God who brought the plagues onto Egypt? Just seems far-fetched at times.

I would love to have faith like Abraham. At least he had God appear to him and converse with him personally. Same as Paul, etc. Faith doesn't seem so courageous and miraculous if you have a personal encounter with God. Me, all I get is a book, praying to the invisible, and thousands of years of God's silence.

I'm not trying to cast doubt onto God. I realize the role sin can have in quenching the sense of God's presence in one's mind and one's life. Just expressing some honest doubts. Just so..tired of the fruitless routine of praying to the invisible and reading a book.

If I ever lose my faith completely..I think I'll hold to it anyway..just because I hate evil and everything this world has come to be. I'm just ready to see God in action..but the longer the silence continues, the more it seems it will never happen.

I have no choice. It's Jesus..or this fallen world filled with wicked people. I will therefore continue on.

2000 years has been a hell of a long time.

I've asked God to cleanse me from every drug I've been given to supposedly heal n prevent health problem.istill believe in the Messiah Regardless of how I feel psycally or emotionally!Faith is not feelgs! Salvation is a gift of Our Messiah! By grace thru Faith we r saved and not of ourselves.it is the Gift of God! He's still with you.otherwise u wouldn't be concerned about losing your salvation!

I can tell you personally the Holy Ghost is real. I feel a pressence when I get deep into prayer. Humble yourself before God, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and confess any sins you have committed since the last time you repented. Call upon the name of the Lord and pour your heart out.

I'm been taking a beating myself lately, so just hang in there and weather the storm. Don't give in to the wickedness of the world; I know it's getting worse every day but your faith is more precious than all the riches in this world combined.

Well, lets suppose you just don't believe anymore. Will that make you a bad person anymore? I mean, will you start killing, raping and stealing automatically, or will you be pretty much the same? It never was faith that makes you a good person. One does not become "evil" right away by abandoning faith. Actually, to me, getting rid of superstitions and gullibility was the best that ever happened to me. I became more knowledgeable about many aspects of life I used to ignore, I understand much more clearly the idea of religion, including it being necessary for many people. I don't believe you're a bad guy overall, you're just realizing that religion only plays the role of holding one back.

The bolded part.

Yes if you are a true Christian, and you continue in Sin, or deny Jesus, you may lose a huge part of the Holy Ghost. I know. I did. A 2 second prayer, or many 2 sec prayers did not do it. I had to go to my pastor, and have him pray to restore my relationship with God.. and repent, obviously.

These days, I'm more careful with God's precious Salvation that He gave me.

Re: Losing my faith. Don't feel the Holy Ghost. My 'spirituality' consists of reading a holy book and praying to an invisible, absent deity
Jesus is the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:3-5
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.

2 Corinthians 3:14-16
14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Re: Losing my faith. Don't feel the Holy Ghost. My 'spirituality' consists of reading a holy book and praying to an invisible, absent deity
Welcome to the Christian Walk my friend.

Spirit is telling me your soul WILL be filled with grace, love, peace and wisdom simply because you’ve posted this, AND publically confessed that you are searching out God.

You are seeking, and you WILL find him!
Actually, God is observing you and showing you how really strong your faith is.

Your faith is emmensly strong!

Simply learn to trust a little better, and your soul will be filled to overflowing!

Everyone of us are going through the same thing. Ask God to convert your will to align to his will. Do this with a sincere heart, surrender your life totally to him, and CHALLENGE him to do something with it.

Hold him responsible for everything good, and bad in your life. Confirm to him that everything in your life is happening according to the will he has for you, be it good or bad.

BAD:

NOTHING is ever bad that God has planned for us, but sometimes the only road out to that “Better Place” is bumpy and rough, but at least it is a road!

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen”.
So,,
Faith IS substance meaning it’s real. Faith and prayers are directed energy.

Remember —

“Broad is the path and wide is the gate that leads to destruction
And many do enter through that gate.
But straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life.
And few do enter through that gate.”
“Build thee more stately Mansions oh my Soul, and leave my outgrown shell upon the Waters of Life.”

Grew up in Pentacostal church, became homeless, was going to suicide when 18yo then suddenly forced to pray for three weeks, then went to church knowing was going to get Holy Ghost and did. So I was validated and knew the truth and things will be great, nope.

Things were great for a few years until started noticing what OP has. The elders in church were not who I wanted to be in 50 years. They were stupid hypocrites. The bible has a little bit of truth that allows the good a path but also prevents them from growing and becoming free. To become free one must be willing to leave the herd, to do things one was taught is blasphemy.

Witnessed a few miracles then nothing for 20 years, was sick, rudderless without communication from God. Three years ago things changed, instead of being forced to pray for three weeks had an urge to walk like Forest Gump. Was so lonely, wanted to cry lonely, but it was transforming. People are your enemy. They provide a sense of comfort but also a prison. You must conform to their standards, their reality, which is why Jesus said if one doesn't hate their brother they don't have the truth. That began a process that is fruitful. The answer is not outside of you, no book or person will provide it.

Leave the endless dogma, the threat of going to hell, and allow oneself to accept anything.

The walking was a form of meditation, then started formal meditation which is a type of fasting. Meditation separates from the patterns of this realm. You first separate then start building the kingdom which is inside.

Their is no we or us, that is the main lie the imprisons. You must be willing to take responsibilty for yourself vs depending on a preacher to orate reality.

things as are many.David in the Psalms encouraged
himself in the Lord. You must do the same.We are in the end game. Continue to seek, pray and praise no matter the feelings.

You need to seek direct experience. Also, God is ALWAYS with us. It’s us who have to learn to listen. Can you stop your thoughts for as long as you want, whenever you want? If not, you need to learn to control your thoughts. That’s the first step to hear God. A good place to learn is, “The Mind Control Method” by Jose Silva. It’s not about controlling others minds, but our own and there are consequences for seeking ill intentions towards another (FYI).

Meditation is a very good way to seek and have direct experiences. It’s amazing the experiences we can have when we learn to control our mind and thoughts. You don’t need to rely solely on the words of any text, instead seek direct experience so you know which words and portions are the most relevant to you and your journey.

Good luck

Very well said. It’s a personal journey and much of it is from the inside. Like you also say, there are many types of meditation. Walking mediation is a good one! I personally enjoy passage/mantra meditations. But I don’t limit myself.

Your also right about having our own individual journey. Even though the answers are inside, we each develop our own relationship with God. God talks in info infinite ways, it’s up to us to learn to understand some those infinite ways. It’s amazing what we can learn from within. It’s also more like remembering than learning.

Good luck

OP, your faith is being tested, that is all.

Pick your Bible up.
Faith comes through hearing and hearing through the Word of God.

I was just thinking earlier today how you are thinking, but what else are you going to do. I reconciled with myself that I am not seeking enough, to much worldly things around me.

Seek and Ye shall find. It might just be a lifelong search, but if you know, you know, what other option do you really have that is viable for you? If you know....None.

When you wake up each day than God everything good in your life. You would be amazed at how much that changes your perspective.

I learned tonight about a very tragic death of a family member tonight.

The next phase is living spiritually

Living the Golden Rule

Connect to Creator within / the little voice / the heart

Resurrecting Christ within

Silencing and no longer feeding inner demons

Healing external imbalances as much as you can without over extending yourself

Being awake and aware / noticing signs and alignments in the moment / following your intuition / divine spark

Take what is good from the book / identify - learn from - then scrap the empire programming add-ons

Welcome to the real

Its easy to talk to God.

He will grant you miracles galore.

The problem is you are part of a religion.

All the religions were created by Satan to deceive you.

Throw away your Bible, and stop praying to Jesus and seek out the Father himself.

Its there you will find what you are looking for.

Re: Losing my faith. Don't feel the Holy Ghost. My 'spirituality' consists of reading a holy book and praying to an invisible, absent deity

Good luck

Its about remembering vs learning, THIS. An engineer in church said we know everything but forgot it. We exist inside an onion with many layers. We already know but forgot. Its not about learning more but eliminating the BS, the noise.

I would suggest start watching a YouTube channel called Prophecy Watchers.

Sounds like you're fed up with the watered down religion that they call Christianity these days.

Prophecy is being fulfilled before our very eyes, for those who are still watchful. These are fascinating times in which we're living, and daresay many of us will probably live to see supernatural things in our lifetimes.

Take this to heart, though. Paul said that the gifts of the spirit would cease, except the gift of charity, and that that was the true miracle. He compared the supernatural gifts of the spirit to childish things. They're nothing more than parlor tricks to our infinite Creator.

I'll tell you though, the truly miraculous thing that I think fascinates God Himself is charity. It's a form of self sacrifice that seems to create something from nothing. I believe that's the entire point of human history, and our experience on this planet, is to teach us about the miracle of charity and self sacrifice, and I believe those who embrace it will be rewarded with eternal life. I daresay it's the very key to eternal life.

When you get right down to it, Jesus dying for our sins was charity. The ultimate charity. I firmly believe that sacrifice is the deepest mystery in the cosmos, and obviously God Himself is fascinated by it.
