What genius thought it would be a great idea to have them all organised like that?

Beyond a photo op...

Well would fuckin be smart thinking to have them spread out ti cover...I don't know...the whole area getting hit...

Hopefully someone at least film's all those trucks trying to get out to emergency calls at the same time.

To establish a centralized base of operations, while the damage is being assessed, they are planning and prioritizing the most critical areas that need immediate attention. All the while they are assembling the crew and doing a 'headcount' to see what they have to work with.

To me it all looks well organized, almost like they had a plan ready to go.

Good on DeSantis.

Hope they can find enough electrical parts and components because many are in such short supply or on back order right now. Hubby is an electrician and he talks all the time about not being able to find what he needs to complete simple jobs at times.

They are spread out. We have ten locations like that. They were staged outside the main impact area.

It's a photo op...
That's why they're bumper to bumper with no room to maneuver...

You'd think a "headcount" would not be required given these are...well..

They are Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), Florida Power Corporation (FPC), Florida Public Utilities Company (FPUC), Gulf Power Company (Gulf), and Tampa Electric Company (TECO). Together, these five investor-owned utilities provide approximately 79 percent of all electricity sold to retail customers in Florida.

But nice of those private companies (who'd not only have all those lists you mention) but actually have experience in dealing with these kinds of situations...to instead gather their work vans in one area for a photo op

I saw a shit ton of "Crisis Response" trucks with trailers headed that way this morning on I-10 in South MS.

Quite the thing to see as they rush in to help.

What are you implying that they would not need a headcount because they are a part of some state department? They just had a hurricane, shit is gone, shit is wiped out, it seems like a logical decision to group up and see what we have.

You claim I mentioned lists.. I mentioned nothing of the sort, what are you babbling on about?

Lists...like a list of names, skills, utility vehicle, equipment within...
Something a private company would maintain and have on hand for efficient operation...unless that was all blown away prior to the storms arrival so they had to start from scratch by getting everyone together.

No mate, gathering everyone in one place makes zero logical sense...particularly arranged like we see in this clip

Once the line techs get there they need to take direction from the local municipality and power service centers.

Something that worked in 2008, without power in Houston for Hurricane Ike, kept calling Reliant Energy over and over until they picked up.

Finally got someone on the line, told them we had downed wires we believed were live. In addition, there were kids out of school in the area. Told the call-taker there was a possibility those kids were getting close to the live power lines.

Counted 45 minutes and we had a crew of trucks working on the lines and power restored 3 hours after that.

Hope everyone gets their power back soon....

Here in Maryland, around noon, very near to I-70 about 75 miles west of Baltimore, multiple electric crews were stringing new silver-colored wires from big 'spools' sitting around on trucks. They all had insulated electric gear on and some on the ground, guys up in the buckets, about three separate crews.

My first thought was why aren't they in Florida.

They sure had plenty of stuff though.
