Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80403685 They are all cat6 CAT6 is just the cable type. You need to verify the speed of the router and switch. This. Sounds like your router is dog. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83038270 From the router to switch and switch to laptop via cat6 20mbps if lucky... WTF?? Honestly dude just figure it out. That’s how this type of stuff works. There are so many troubleshooting things you can do to figure this out. You just need to painstakingly do each one. You aren’t going to get anywhere looking for a quick fix on GLP you would be better off googling |

YesNoMaybe User ID: 80494818 Chile 09/30/2022 12:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Internet speed? All devices conected are 10/100/1000T capable? The router or pc had enabled the gigabit speed? You had a wifi extensor? Using a pc conected to a rj45 port, test the speed connection between the devices(not internet) Check the rj45 terminals in the cat6 cable |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 83038270 United States 09/30/2022 12:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here is the info. The router GUI is shit... really nothing to change or check on speed. I connected a laptop directly to the router bypassing the switch and I got full speed. As soon as it hits the switch its crap. Used a dozen cables, new, old, etc. known reliability and nothing changed. Router - FAST 5688W Switch - TL-SG105(un) |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 83038270 United States 09/30/2022 01:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You do have the cable from the modem going into the right port on the switch I take it? Quoting: Swearbox Ive tried every port.. they say its plug and play? Only two ethernet ports in back of gateway, so it goes from one of those to the switch. Switch has 5 ports... TL SG105(un). Ive tried from gateway to port 1, port 4, port 5.. ran the test and no change. Unless Im doing something wrong. Thanks! |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 83038270 United States 09/30/2022 01:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | verify each port with 2 different cables. check speed. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82157960 then add the junction and see if the speed drops. trouble shoot and process of elimination I swapped out cables on the ports and reran speed test.. nothing. So basically from gateway to laptop... full speed. From gateway to switch to laptop, changing out ports and cables did nothing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 82087405 United States 09/30/2022 01:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Was just looking at the specs on both pieces, looks like they're all gigabit copper. Should be capable of more than what your provider ?T-Mobile? is serving up. I'd try plugging your laptop into the cable that you have run...the one that you're using to connect the switch to the router. Run the speed test from there, see what you get. If that gets good speed, you know it's an issue with the switch. If not, probably a cable (or router) issue. Process of elimination. |

Swearbox User ID: 77978222 Canada 09/30/2022 01:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So from gateway to switch use port 1? Which port from switch to backroom? Just did a bit of googling.the switch port that you plug into from your modem shouldn't matter. Someone reported having the same issue as yourself. The fix was set everything up as you require then restart your modem. Try it...might just work Chill out, its just a Lancashire Rose |
