Keep your eye on drone tech. Cheaper and safer. I've advocated for GLP to send one to Antartica in the past but that probably "wouldn't fly" judging by other past community projects.  Interesting. There must be many practical methods. What exactly would you do with a drone? My mind is open to technology, but the social route is very solid. There are people walking round from parallel civilizations all the time. They only tend to talk to you when you're on your best behaviour, and really grounded, positive, and focused. I’d survey the land like you suggested in the OP. Nothing beats direct experience and could you imagine flying up to the pyramid structure up close down in Antarctica? Even just to see if it gets shots down would be a pretty compelling tell.
