The T-14 was originally planned to be mass produced by 2020, but this hasn't happened.

Only a small number have appeared in parades.

The T-90 project started as an upgrade of the T-72.

It was originally called the T-72BU.

The Soviet Union had a High/Low tank strategy, the High tech and most expensive tank for the elite units was the T-64 and its successor, the T-80.

The Low tech, low cost tank was the T-62 and its successor the T-72. This would make up the bulk of the Soviet forces and be exported and licensed to Warsaw Pact vassals.

The T-90 is just an upgraded second rate tank.
