United States apparently consumes ~20 million barrels per day. I'm not sure <1 days worth of oil will make an overall impact.

The Republican win in the mid terms is going to be kinda subdued with the realisation of all the destruction caused by the democrats has to be dealt with. Those reserves will probably never be built up again and much of the destruction is irreversible, giving the democrats plenty of ammunition to play the blame game with.

Here is an idea - have the gas companies raise the price of gas to an insane price 2 weeks before the election and blame the Democrats for it. Should swing the vote and let's face it, the gas companies know that Joe is no friend of theirs.
