I have worked the power career, and been a stay at home mom.

The latter is by far the more difficult and demanding.

Especially when raising children. I don't know how parents are managing in this day and age. With all the crap outside the home they have to contend with in keeping their children safe. God bless them. These are really challenging times we are living in.

If you don't want your kid coming home to the internet everyday you *have* to be a SAHM... even if you work from home you can't really be present. My kid is in 6th grade and I have to watch him like a hawk because he knows how ty get around the block site programs.

My kids were using MySpace when they were in high school. Cell phones weren't as ubiquitous. Cell phones were basically portable phones then, with texting capability and were not allowed to be turned on in the classroom. At night, when it was time to go to bed, I'd turn off the router in my master bedroom closet - that way my kids weren't staying up all night on their computers. I can't imagine how hard it must be to monitor children's internet usage today. It seems a damn near impossible task. Even when my kids were younger, the wild west of the internet, I was upset at some of the things they were exposed to. So called 'parental controls' aren't effective, especially if kids are going to school and are being exposed to porn & groomed by their teachers.

I was in my first year of college when MySpace came out, and was there for the early-early years of the internet, and yeah things were so very different.
Even though it was the Wild West back then, things are worse today because more people are contributing. When my kiddo was 3 or so, I was making Sunday breakfast and my husband was watching sesame street videos with our son on their official YouTube channel...spliced into the song was a porn clip. By the end of the day it was reported that someone hacked (I think it was a disgruntled eployee) into the official account and replaced videos with one's he porned up.
