Get a patent lawyer. Research the internet. Don't do it on your own. Yeah, you'd save a few bucks but the lawyer knows where you can hawk your ideas for investors.

Honestly, you'd be better off keeping it a secret.

They way to stop you from being killed over this is to tell everyone now. That makes it "in record" as the originator. You don't need patents, all you need to prove is you invented it.

This is a cheap way to patent your idea. Also, follow through with a patent lawyer...

Make a copy of the original schematics with all the corresponding writing that describes your idea, its process, and outcome. Put that in an envelope and have that mailed to you and include USPS tracking, Signature Confirmation, and Return Receipt...

As a result, you now have dated material with receipt and verification. This will hold up in court provided that no one does it before you...

Never open the Envelope unless you need to via court order...

Not to be skeptical but can you provide more details? I've seen so many claims like these over the years.

How disruptive the tech is would determine your approach. Some disruptive tech will get you killed or "disappeared." Some will get your patent shelved for reasons of "national security." Some will get your competitors zeroed in on crushing you and destroying your life. Some tech you can get out through covert means. Some tech you can safely get out through normal means and channels.

You idiot, big corporations don't have their engineers file patents, they have a department that does that with real patent lawyers.

That would be a total waste of an engineer's time.

I'd keep quiet about it until you have a solid working model. I won't ask a few questions I'm dying to for your sake.

If you can set up parallel examples to demonstrate efficiency that will work heavily in your favor.
