Cataract surgery was a piece of cake. Now I have a right eye like Geordi in First Contact. | |

So, I recently had a surgical procedure that is called KAMRA inlay which many might not have heard about. This is a new kind of treatment to cure presbyopia. Like your cataract surgery, this was a walk in the park for me. I genuinely feel that my near vision has improved considerably after the surgery. Well, this kind of surgery involves implanting a small ring into the patient's cornea. I never heard of this surgery until I had this myself. One thing that people should note is that they should try to go to a reputed place to have this procedure. The place where I'd was really great! ( [link to www.avantlasikspa.com (secure)] ) |

Three days later, my vision cleared up even more. In about two weeks, I will get the left eye done. There are three types of lenses—Basic, Toric, and bifocal. I have astigmatism, bad, so I got the Toric lens. Medicare pays for almost all of the basic lenses. For Toric, I have to pay $2,100, over and above what Medicare pays. That's each eye. I'm pretty sure I'll only need glasses for reading. Distance shouldn't be a problem. They told me they have younger patients who skip Lasik and go straight to synthetic intraocular lenses. Of course, they pay because insurance won't. Everyone eventually gets cataracts. Even those that have Lasik. They're just skipping a step. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82243458 Good to hear. I have my surgical consult in about a month and I'm actually looking forward to it. Night driving has become a nightmare with all the "halos" from headlights and street lights. I had astigmatism that they fixed along with the cataracts. The lasik is hard on the eyes as compared to the implants. You will be wearing glasses to read anyway…. Have the astigmatism fixed in those. LRB |
