The day after, I could read the smallest bottom line on the eye chart without a problem. Three days later, my vision cleared up even more. In about two weeks, I will get the left eye done. There are three types of lenses—Basic, Toric, and bifocal. I have astigmatism, bad, so I got the Toric lens. Medicare pays for almost all of the basic lenses. For Toric, I have to pay $2,100, over and above what Medicare pays. That's each eye. I'm pretty sure I'll only need glasses for reading. Distance shouldn't be a problem. They told me they have younger patients who skip Lasik and go straight to synthetic intraocular lenses. Of course, they pay because insurance won't. Everyone eventually gets cataracts. Even those that have Lasik. They're just skipping a step.
