They're really starting to ramp up the fear about RSV. They clearly want to vaccinate the children.

The situation is that the covid jabs reduced immunity levels in adults. These then became more likely to catch and spread RSV. Because they've got prior immunity to RSV the adults only had 'a bad cold' (rather than just not catch the RSV for the most part, which would have happened before the covid jabs).

Because there's so much RSV around, kids are more likely to catch it, and this is resulting in relatively more cases this year. Because there are more cases in children we're seeing more hospitalisations. We'll also see a very very small number of deaths, generally in those children that have weakened immune systems.

There might be a case for giving the RSV vaccine to these children with weak immune systems, but they'll want to vaccinate all of them anyway (because the pharma companies have captured the regulatory bodies).
