CelticLegends User ID: 668148 United Kingdom 05/21/2009 05:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I tried to translate one of my first GLP posts into Scots Gaelic, and it ended up being a mixture of Irish and Scots Gaelic. Took me the best part of an hour until I was happy with the translation I got, plus I had to improvise, I know so little about it. If it's tough for a Scot, I don't imagine it being much easier for someone from outside of Scotland, unless you're unusually talented in these things. :) It is the Thunderbolt that steers the Universe - Heraclitus |

You should look forward to getting your tongue round some pretty chewy [or 'teuch' as we'd say in "auld Scots"] words then, but I imagine you'll be used to that. The "ch" sound in teuch, is something quite a few Anglos have trouble wrapping their gums around. The French should come in handy though. CelticLegends User ID: 668148 United Kingdom 05/21/2009 06:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It applies to meat, or a steak that takes more chewing than is worth the energy put in. The first part, "teu" would be pronounced like "choo", but the ending "ch" would be pronounced in the guttural style of Scots or Germanic language. Kind of like a cat-hiss. Comprende?
