yeah i have my doubts, too. Canada, Ireland, and the USA top the list, from what media have reported, but it's worldwide. Pretty sure there won't be any further pronouncements unti, the nest high-profile scandal or international summit.

No need to RUSH in working on the Catholic Church Sexual Abuse issues .... you know, not just the kids but the other things that have gone on too.

It has obviously been an informal Church Policy to sexually abuse parishioners for hundreds of years so such a structural change to long term Church Policy should NOT be done in haste.

Think of how such a change is going to deprive the Priests, Bishops, Cardinals of the physical solace they need in order to properly do their jobs as serving as the direct conduit to God for their parishioners!! This can't be good for attracting or retaining the QUALITY people needed for serving the needs of the people for their Religion.

Note how badly the recruitment and retention of new Priests has gone since the Church started nibbling away at the rampant child sex abuse in the Church!! A DISASTER. Our local church just a couple of weekends ago announced the closure of ANOTHER 70 parishes ... LACK OF PRIESTS!! (the city down the road closed about 75 parishes a year ago) It is unlikely that would be happening if Priests could still do, without any negative repercussions, what they have been doing for hundreds of years wrt obtaining their needed sexual satisfaction!!

Such a change in policy obviously needs a long term study before any radical changes are made, say about a two generation study (40+ years) so they can understand all of
negative repercussions to the church, particularly wrt attracting and keeping the quality men that they have attracted to the priesthood over the last few hundred years.
