Baldwin filed a cross-complaint in Superior Court in Los Angeles alleging negligence against some of the people sued by a script supervisor, Mamie Mitchell. Among other things, it seeks a share of any damages that Mitchell may win from the people Baldwin names and asks that they pay for any damages assessed against him. Mitchell was standing behind Hutchins, who died shortly after being wounded during setup for a scene in the western movie “Rust” at a film set ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe on Oct.21 2021 it didnt just FIRE- it was a fucking revolver- he literally pulled the fucking trigger. fuck this cuck |

It is standard practice for the prop master to be responsible to ensure all devices given to actors meet all safety requirements. Yeah, if he wasn't such a liberal waste of tissue he may have gone to the reasonable standard of personal verification of the rounds. However its quite common for actors to not have the first clue on how firearms work. All they know is point and click. So as things go he isn't wrong. Still a dick though. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 32577701 United States 11/14/2022 06:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This production sounded like a cheaper-than-dirt crew, full of dipshits and rejects... seriously. The "amorer" was chubby young girl, who looked like she should be working in a coffee house... not put in charge of deadly weapons. Yes, Alec Baldwin is a smug prick and I hate him as much as anyone else, but this was 100% not his fault. There should NEVER, under any circumstances, should be live ammunition on a movie set! Yes, it sounds like Alec had the trigger depressed while he fanned the hammer back with his thumb, which when released, struck the firing pin into the primer, just like and actual trigger pull BUT he did not place a live round into the gun... that was the armorer's fault 100%. Alec is a big dumb actor who didn't know how antique Colt's work. Again, the armorer should've trained with him extensively, on every function and risk of that specific gun. Feel bad for all involved. This was so preventable. |

Feel bad for all involved. This was so preventable. Wrong. Anyone who handles a firearm is solely responsible for doing so in a safe manner. I don't care who you are. You pick it up, you're responsible for what happens, period. Pick up the firearm, keeping your finger off the trigger while keeping it pointed in a safe direction. Make sure the firearm is unloaded by whatever method is applicable for the firearm type, in this case, checking the cylinder and removing any cartridges or making sure they were blanks and not live rounds. After making sure the firearm is either unloaded or loaded with blanks, secure the firearm in a holster that is worn on your body. Anytime the weapon is no longer in your control, you have to repeat the above steps when taking control of the firearm again. |
