An interesting fact is that muzzle loaders and primitive weapons do not count as firearms.
They can be bought with no background check and are pretty much unregulated.
A cap and ball colt counts as a primitive weapon.
People still hunt large game with muzzle loaders.
There is no effort to regulate those weapons and because of the corner legislatures have drawn themselves into there never can.
Remember they all say the right to bear arms only applies to the weapons of the time when the constitution was written.
Other weapons of the time include cannon which were loaded from the muzzle.
If you study history there were other weapons as well which are now regulated and to my knowledge no one has taken that to the supreme court, for example at the time the Chinese had rockets for hundreds of years.
