Pope Francis Says Vatican Ready to Mediate to End Ukraine Conflict

Pope Francis said in an interview published on Friday that he is ready to mediate to achieve peace in Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

"Peace in Ukraine is possible," the head of the Catholic Church told daily newspaper La Stampa.

"But everyone must commit themselves to demilitarising their hearts.

"We must all be pacifists.

"We must want peace, not just a ceasefire, which may only serve to be able to rearm".

The Argentine pontiff confirmed that the Vatican was willing to "do everything possible to mediate and end the conflict in Ukraine".
