Returned pajamas at the wal mart that smelled bad.

As I understand it yes the atmosphere is similar enough to earth that a person could walk the surface without a spacesuit.

They would however need enough clothing to sustain the unbelievably cold temps.

Interestingly enough it's so damn cold the lakes there are made up of hydrocarbons that usually boil around -40f meaning a crew there could literally go fill up tanks and use the energy to stay warm and keep power on.

It makes by far the most sense to colonize because of the atmosphere and the abundance of hydrocarbons for heat/energy.

Though I gotta imagine staring out into a nights sky that's practically all Saturn would be a tad creepy.

Saturn is both beautiful and terrifying. I agree, I don't know if I could handle looking at it that close that often.

I also wonder how the rings would look like that close...might just look like a rock field from that distance or a brilliant spectacle of ice.

That being said, I'll tell you something relatively unknown from the history books.

In Julius Caesar's account of his conquests of western gaul, he described the barbarians of one particular coast town to have ocean vessels akin to galleons.

Ships able to adeptly handle rough seas and tides far better than the roman ships. Caesar had to use extreme tactics including brute force ramming and rappeling because the barbarian ships were designed for deep-ocean travel and danced around the roman ships.

That account makes a guy wonder how in blazes the barbarians got those kind of craft.

Could that style of ship made a trans-atlantic crossing? Judging by the account, it certainly is possible.
