A fire needs three things to keep going, fuel, heat, oxygen. When a Lipo battery pack shorts out it provides all three of those. The best a fire department can do is called surround and drown where they are just protecting the fire from spreading.

A friend of mine bought an old VW Bug, and on the way home the engine caught fire. The VW burnt up, and he walked down the road and hitchhiked home. He only lost a few hundred bucks.

Gas cars burn up all the time, and also travel trailers. I've seen quite a few burning vehicles on the side of the road.

Yes it does seem like the MSM is in full anti-Musk mode. Also, I don’t watch the MSM but I would bet Hyundai and other EV makers advertise on the MSM and so have some built in MSM immunity from such stories.

There is another lithium battery that Doesn't burn.

It's called li-fe, short for lithium-ferrite.

They're way safer, and some indoor RC race tracks require li-fe batteries for insurance reasons.

Li-po batteries will start burning once the battery pack is punctured.

Many RC hobby shops are recommending li-fe batteries now.

Watched a video a couple of days ago where a travel trailer caught on fire at a small plane fly-in event. The lithium batteries/propane tanks/water and sewer tanks set that trailer off like crazy with 15 minutes of huge flaming explosions like you cannot believe! Wish I could find the vid. The lifepo batteries (lithium iron phosphate) are the ones to buy, much much safer! Driving around or camping with the other lithium batteries is freakishly dangerous! When they fire up you may have mere seconds before the fireball bomb goes off!
