SECOND head football coach in one week Yeah I'm in Lubbock which is in West Texas. I heard about the first one which was in Anton. This is the first I'm hearing about this one. Quoting: Misinformation Superspreader Published: Nov. 14, 2022 at 9:19 PM PST|Updated: Nov. 20, 2022 at 8:41 PM PST LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - West Texas coaches are remembering one of their own, Anton Head Football Coach Matthew Hoover, as a family man and fierce competitor, days after he was found dead inside his home Saturday. The 38-year-old made an impact on student-athletes at Christ the King, Wilson, Grand Falls, and Anton, where he coached for the last four years. Along with his time on the field, his fellow coaches and friends remember his dedication to his wife and four daughters. [link to www.fox34.com (secure)] |

SECOND head football coach in one week It's going to be tough for these towns and the kids. Anton is a really small school. Littlefield is bigger, but only by South Plains measure. Used to live out that way, Ropes ISD. Quoting: Texan Buckeye Prayers for my friends and old neighbors. The only thing I've heard about in Lubbock is a football player from Monterey High School (the school I attended) had a heart attack. I'm sure there's more I pay more attention to what's happening globally than locally. |

The only thing I've heard about in Lubbock is a football player from Monterey High School (the school I attended) had a heart attack. I'm sure there's more I pay more attention to what's happening globally than locally. I'm sorry to hear that. I still have family in Lubbock so I check in on the news occasionally. We had to move back to Ohio a few years ago to take care of parents. I think there have been others out there that have passed, but I don't have time right now to dig back into it. Good people out there. I miss it, but y'all can keep the dust storms! LOL It doesn't look like I'll get back down there again. The South Plains will always have a big place in my heart. I'm sad for the towns that are suffering losses right now. I know how close knit communities are out there. It used to make me mad how the rest of the state looked down on west Texas. The very best people live there! |
