Bought a 61 Buick Skylark 2 door!
I'm in the South so it's mostly surface rust except for where the driver side floorboard is and the driver's door has a little crease in it that can be fixed. My question is it has the 215 aluminum engine experimental engine that is! Yes I'm excited about it but the engine won't turn over everything is seized and hasn't been ran since 1972. The intake is now off of it and the heads are about to come off to be redone but a rebuild kit is through the roof. What are you guys thought about loosening it up and if the Pistons are tight and everything else is tight just getting the heads done and putting the manifold back on and running it that way? Anyone?

Oh. It took a half inch impact gun just to get the spark plugs out and fighting it at that. Then I put a solution of half acetone half transmission fluid to soak but it still won't bust loose

No it's going to need a new engine or a rebuild see if there are any cross over engines for this car if you want to keep it original rebuild it.

So if I spin the pump with a drill and get good pressure and the Pistons are tight but it cleans up nice you still think that I need a new engine?

Reason I'm saying is that a complete rebuild kit is almost $2,000 and that's not machine work included

Marval mystery oil. Put it in each cylinder and let set , it will loosen them.

you are cancer but pull the engine and drop into a tank of diesel with a few tins of kroil or a gallon of mouse milk added and an immersion heater

Just put a new crate motor in it. Having the original motor in that car doesn’t add any value.

Is it locked up if it is it's going to need rebuilt.
It's not a matter of oil pressure the rings bond to the
Walls and will break you bought an expensive toy.

I was hoping to check the compression and if it had good compression then I know I can build the top end

Make a batch of sauerkraut and slap some on the back of your neck. Then roll up your sleeves and re-bore that carburetor with some well used chopsticks. That’ll do the trick

The cylinder walls in the block are sleeved . Those heads are famous for spitting out spark plugs so it's probably got helicoil inserts .
I ran with one in a little two door years ago . It was an animal .
