It's called well digging with a shovel. We all did that with what is called "haying" or loading hay onto trailors and trucks in the summer. Usually seemed to be a race between the temp and the humidity to seehich would pass 90 first. No deprssion out there. |

It's called well digging with a shovel. I know a story of a man who’s teenage only son had clinical depression and was doing poorly in high school, and instead of getting him professional help, he took him out of school and, against the mother’s wishes, sent him away to a military academy to, quote, “whip his ass into shape”. A few weeks later, first day at the firing range, when single live rounds were handed out, the moment the instructor’s back was turned for a second… Yeah. Result: One son, dead by his own hand. One mother, who almost went mad with grief and crazy with anger at her husband, who she divorced within weeks. She was in and out of mental hospitals for the rest of her life. One father, who decided that he couldn’t admit to himself that he had been a complete asshole idiot and proceeded to slowly drink himself to death, but not before driving home drunk one night and ruining more lives in a bad accident. One teacher/firearms instructor who afterwards quit his position at the academy and drifted from job to job, living very minimally. He never got over what happened, and felt responsible for the rest of his days. Yeah, tell that mopey kid to dig a well. Just need to blow the stink off of him. He’ll be fine. |

It's called well digging with a shovel. It showed respect and self pride when doing what dad said to do. My kid grew up exposed to the rich and affluent kids. He fought me on everything because the other parents called someone up to do wherever for them. Now he’s all grown up and has his own place. He has regrets but the damage was already done. You act like all work is slavery. Even if the parasitic globalist elite did not exist, we would all still need to work to survive. You can combine the lesson of a work ethic with the teaching of practical handiman skills that would be necessary with or without the NWO. Just teach your children the truth of the world right alongside those practical lessons. It is not just the kids, you are right it is the majority of people. Hard work that is productive, that keeps you mentally healthy and in physical good shape, getting a good workout in fresh air and sunshine in the outdoors, feeling worthwhile accomplishment, pushing yourself to your full potential and feeling good about yourself for a hard job well done is now considered forced labor, dreaded abuse and slavery. |

People are depressed and feel miserable about themselves and the world around them because they do not do anything to feel good about themselves and the world around them. Instead of doing things that make themselves and the world better they maintain destructive thoughts and behaviors that create the misery that they bitch about. |

It's called well digging with a shovel. I agree with the general message of the thread. I have personally noted that in my youth, when I sat around all day in comfort playing games, that I began to feel numb to such pleasures. On the other hand, when I forced myself to do things that I did not want to do, like work for hours, it felt great when I came back to the comfort of rest and play. Without the downs of life, the ups do not feel nearly as powerful. When your muscles are sore from labor, it feels great to rest them and relax. When you eat restaurant-quality food as a special occasion, it feels like a treat. Your sensory system may savor every moment. If you eat high class food every day, the feeling of enjoyment will not be nearly as powerful. Sometimes the hardships of life enrich the rest. A feeling of depression, boredom, and general numbness to life CAN be a result of not enough hardship. And working out at the gym, doing sit ups, jogging nonproductive vanity activities are not the same as getting outdoors and accomplishing a good hard job well done that you can be proud of. There are good reasons to maintain an exercise routine beyond vanity. Ex, a fat person may want to lose the weight for their own health, a scrawny person may want to become stronger, or a person may simply want to live a long and fruitful life. ...but even if the motivation for exercise is just to look good, I don't really see anything wrong with that. It's normal to want to look good for the opposite sex. It still requires discipline and work to achieve. I would agree that combining work and exercise is ideal though, because it's like killing two birds with one stone. I lived on a small farm for a while, and just doing farm chores every day was enough to keep me in shape. I am going to go shovel the roofs and farm now before the blizzard hits tonight dumping another foot of snow. I will be joyfully self-satisfied with accomplishment enduring the pain in a hot bath with a hot toddy latter tonight and sleep well. Blessings and have a great day. |

Yes, Physical labor is good for you I cut and split 14 cords of firewood this spring and summer (this year's and next year's wood supply is done) today I moved the last 1 1/2 cords of 7 inside so we are set for heat for the winter but I will also move about 1 ton of coal inside for bitter cold nights (love burning coal, it burns long and hot!) We purchased 6 tons of coal this summer from the Amish to have on hand and I recently scored 6 tons more at an auction for just $230.00 (plus a 20% buyer's premium and I also paid a guy with a truck and forklift $500 to move it to my property) I stocked up on energy, (wood, coal and propane) and I have 2 additional log truck loads of logs (just delivered) out back to cut and split we live somewhat Amish style, (I suspect many of our family and friends think we are crazy, however we stay fit and eat healthy) |
